I just sent Chester an email:
"Dear Senator Lott,
If you had a chin, I'd tell you to keep it up. In the mean time, don't do anything rash. Weather this storm!
Thanks for all you have done for us in the past Chester.
Rich"

I picked up a tidbit today while driveing around my ranch. The two people talking said to keep the preasure on through the press. Before long lott would step down and a democrat would be appointed by the gov.and the democrats would be in charge again the way it is suppose to be.I don't like lott but i like the democrats a hell of a lot less. The democrats are bottom feeders slime sucking bunch of slugs there is not a honest democrat alive.

Removing Lott is not a matter of eating one of our own. It's primarily a matter of
upstaging the Dems.
Even some of the liberal pundits are acting surprised at the disciplinary ferocity of the Republicans. They are being forced to realize that the Party doesn't coddle racism--or even the appearance thereof. We need to follow through on this, lest we lose this wonderful momentum.
For this reason, the Dems definitely would prefer that we leave Lott in place. Don't be fooled by the fact that they are clamoring for his removal. If we remove Lott, we ultimately cut them off at the knees.
You have to keep in mind that the Dems want to continue ranting at us for two years. They want to oppose important legislation on which our prospects for 2004 ultimately depend (especially economic stuff). Perhaps even more ominous, they have also sent signals that they want to oppose all good judicial nominees on the alleged grounds that they are racists.
In other words, they want to mess up the nation and blame us by saying we just wouldn't work with them.
And I think they are also still trying to lure RINOs into the Democratic Party. The failure to remove Lott really could trigger Chafee's deception. It would give him political cover for accepting the Dems' bribes.
Besides, you can bet that Daschle doesn't want Lott removed. This is why Daschle was initially conciliatory over Lott's gaffe. (Maxine Waters just bullied Daschle into starting to attack Lott.) Daschle wants a weak Majority Leader. And the only thing weaker than a Trent Lott is a discredited Trent Lott.
So, canning Lott is not a compromise. It is a counterattack. It's what the Dems don't want. They are hoping we will be stupid. They are trying to lure us into a fight, because they know that if present trends continue, we will make even more gains in 2004 and potentially crush the very life out of the Democratic Party by 2008.

If Senator Lett fought half as hard for conservatives as he's fighting to preserve his power, conservatives would be fighting for him.

I think he should stay in the Senate as well.
I think he was stupid but is not a racist. (I hope)

My point is that
if a person thought Lott was more than stupid, that he was a racist, that that person would be morally inclined to call for Lott complete resignation.
I was speaking to those that say Lott's word were more than misunderstood, poorly thought out comments. Those here on FR that think Lott is a racist, but want him to stay in the senate for their own desire to maintain power.
I want Lott gone as ML though I regret this matter as the catalyst, however I do not think Lott is a racist. If I did I would be morally mandated to call for his complete removal from the senate.

I do not think Lott is a racist, and I think that this is the biggest bunch of hooey that I have seen in a while..
Attitudes on race have changed over the years, and for the better. This will only increase racial divides and separate people. I am sick of people trying to play the race card, when all has failed. Some times it works, and sometimes it will backfire.

I agree, letting the RATS paint ALL the GOP as racists is dumb. We will never live it down unless we take on Rev Jackson and Kwesi McFume, it will only empower them to attack more republicans. It's time to make a stand against the race baiters, the time is NOW !
To: EternalVigilance
You did a darn good job covering everything and I agree.

If Senator Lett fought half as hard for conservatives as he's fighting to preserve his power, conservatives would be fighting for him.Exactly!!!!! Trent Lott is the major reason we refer to the GOP as the "Stupid Party."

Thanks.
What had to happen has been apparent for several days...now we just need to have that old vaudeville hook come out and pull this guy off the stage! ;-)
