Sean Hannity is gonna hang himself with this Lott issue.

Hannity.com Frontpage:

"Saying he used "a poor choice of words," Trent Lott spoke with Sean on the newsmakers phoneline at length on December 11th in an exclusive interview. This follows a firestorm of criticism by Liberals and Conservatives alike in reaction to comments made by Lott at Sen Strom Thurman's 100th birthday party."

I can understand the intitial desire to defend the context of what Lott said. I fully comprehend the position taken. However...

[IMHO] Trent Lott is on the outs. The President completely slammed the door shut on this thing earlier today but now you still have guys like Hannity trying to defend the context of Lott's remarks and introducing the Clintons, and Jackson so on and so forth.

Hannity needs to walk away from this. We all understand what is happening here. We all understand what the Liberals are doing.

With that said...

None of this would be happening if Lott hadnt said what he said. He is developing a track record for comments that "have to be taken in their context" that coincidentally happen to offend Blacks.

Lott needs to go and Hannity needs to let him go.

I think Hannity is mad at the same thing I'm mad about - the moral hypocracy of the left. Republicans are held to a higher standard and we're getting VERY tired of it.

Agreed.

I don't understand why Rush and Hannity want to keep Lott in power. Lott has stabbed conservatives in the back too many times... From the "power sharing" deals with the 'Rats to this enormously stupid gaffe, it's time for Lott to go. It's really the perfect time too, considering we just gained the Senate majority back, but the new session hasn't started yet.

Part of me wants to defend Lott because he's a Republican who is being unfairly attacked. But the other side of me wants Lott to go because he's been INEFFECTIVE (to say the least) as a leader in the Senate. Hit the road, Lott, and let someone else take over who can do a better job. What's so hard about that?! For victory & freedom!!!

Yep, and we need to understand why Dubya joined them: Lott backs use of troops to protect U.S. borders

Who do you think Dubya is going to anoint majority leader? McCain?

I think it is the fact that it is a bunch of hypocrite Dims who are doing the bashing of Lott. It is like when you have a relative, who you know is a bum, but if someone outside of the family starts degrading him, you will defend the relative.

If Lott goes then the GOP has shown that it allows itself to be run by outside "management".

Daschle has orchestrated this as an attempt to sway lib Senators to defect. Can you imagine if the GOP replaced Lott with strong conservative leadership? These RINO's will hop over into Daschles sandbox faster than you can say Jim Jeffords!

Yeah, but... I thought we hold ourselves to a higher standard.

Plus, Hannity's comparisons are apples and oranges. Clinton has been out of power for almost two years, and the Jesse Jackson "hymie town" issue doesn't feature a Senate Majority Leader.

Don't get tired of it, it is a good thing to be standing on higher ground; especially in times like these.

Lott's "sharing" and "bipartisanship" is coming home. I guess he sees what a one-way street that bipartisan outrage can be.

Exactly right. And this is also why we look stupid defending him. He screwed up, and should endure the consequences of his idiocy. Why should we defend his moronic comments?

No, it will show that the GOP will not tolerate 1950's racism any longer. That would be a good thing.

Don't fool yourself into believing this.

Actually, no...these are different words.

Hypocrisy = faking virtue

Hypocracy = rule by hypochondriacs

Lott's too clueless to see that. He's also to clueless to understand that he should proof-read his speech notes before opening his big fat mouth and inserting his foot. This is classic Lott behavior, and I am sick of it.

I competely agree but with that said...

Lott is an incompetent moron.

We [Conservatives] by default have to be smarter, more savvy, quicker, brighter etc, etc. than the Liberals. Those who arent [Ex. Lott] are gonna get all of us in trouble for what I personally believe are his own slanted views.

I understand one remark slipping out of context and it happens to offend a certain group of people [which I believe this recent remark legitimately does] but Lott has several of these apparent slips...that coincidentally happen to offend the same group...and taken as a whole they meet the Liberal's threashold for complete crucifiction.

We can point out the nonsense of the left without anchoring ourselves down with Lott's defense. He said what he said...and I believe he brought the heat on himself. We shouldnt harangue the left over Clinton and Jackson now...we should've crucified them then...

...it smacks of Muslim Terrorists refusing to accept responsibility by pointing out some zionist conspiracy.

...this is Lott's doing. I believe he needs to go.

I don't really care about the hypocrisy of the left, I expect that of them. What I'm getting really tired of the hypocrisy of these conservative radio guys; it's starting to get embarassing, but Sean is merely parroting Rush Limbaugh.

Could you picture Sean blowing a gasket on his TV show, if it were Tom Daschle who had uttered those words? Colmes must be getting a real kick out of this.

The news about Lott's fraternity days cooks his goose.

Shows a pattern.

He will step down from Majority Leader candidate this weekend!
