I think Hannity is mad at the same thing I'm mad about - the moral hypocracy of the left. Republicans are held to a higher standard and we're getting VERY tired of it.

Yeah, but... I thought we hold ourselves to a higher standard.

Plus, Hannity's comparisons are apples and oranges. Clinton has been out of power for almost two years, and the Jesse Jackson "hymie town" issue doesn't feature a Senate Majority Leader.

Don't get tired of it, it is a good thing to be standing on higher ground; especially in times like these.

I competely agree but with that said...

Lott is an incompetent moron.

We [Conservatives] by default have to be smarter, more savvy, quicker, brighter etc, etc. than the Liberals. Those who arent [Ex. Lott] are gonna get all of us in trouble for what I personally believe are his own slanted views.

I understand one remark slipping out of context and it happens to offend a certain group of people [which I believe this recent remark legitimately does] but Lott has several of these apparent slips...that coincidentally happen to offend the same group...and taken as a whole they meet the Liberal's threashold for complete crucifiction.

We can point out the nonsense of the left without anchoring ourselves down with Lott's defense. He said what he said...and I believe he brought the heat on himself. We shouldnt harangue the left over Clinton and Jackson now...we should've crucified them then...

...it smacks of Muslim Terrorists refusing to accept responsibility by pointing out some zionist conspiracy.

...this is Lott's doing. I believe he needs to go.

I don't really care about the hypocrisy of the left, I expect that of them. What I'm getting really tired of the hypocrisy of these conservative radio guys; it's starting to get embarassing, but Sean is merely parroting Rush Limbaugh.

Could you picture Sean blowing a gasket on his TV show, if it were Tom Daschle who had uttered those words? Colmes must be getting a real kick out of this.

I don't get tired of it. I'd rather belong to a club that has a higher moral price of admission any day of the week.

I agree that the left's moral hypocrisy is maddening. But we shouldn't practice it by getting into semantic or reletive degrees arguments.

If we're going to hold true to our ideals, Lott should step down from the leadership post (but not the senate).

Livingston stepped down when word came out that he cheated on his wife...it was the right thing to do. Clinton obviously didn't do the right thing.

Lott has repeatedly said this stupid thing and he therefore has lost the moral authority to lead. Who cares what Byrd said or what the Kennedy's did to MLK? If we follow that path, we follow the same path of the dems who wanted to investigate the sexual history of every Republican in Congress.

You say we are (conservatives) being held to a higher standard.....well we should be proud not only of having to do that, but also achieving it.

I can't figure out why we don't strive to be better than the other party. We're getting into the "everybody does it" syndrome.

The left has no standards. If everything is relative, there can be no standards. Nothing can be better or worse than any other thing. Multiculturalism is a prime example of this. It you have standards, you introduce judgement. For liberals being judgemental is a cardinal sin.

So, it is not really that there is a different standard, it is that Republicans have a standard and there is nothing wrong with that.

Yes, the hypocracy of the left is sickening, but if we excuse Lott, then we're as guilty of hypocracy as they are. Lott said what he said, and it wasn't pretty. If there were some other thing about Thurmond's platform in '48 that Lott was referring to, he hasn't said, so I doubt that explanation.

We're held to a higher standard, but I would like to think that we hold ourselves to a higher standard. Let the left showcase their hypocracy. Here's an opportunity for the Republicans to show this nation that we are worthy of that higher standard.

It's easy to be outraged when you are not challenged to do what you would require of others. However, that time has come.

What conservatives say the liberals should have done with Byrd, we should now do with Lott. Or we should shut the heck up.

Being held to a higher standard includes policing your own. Lott did this to himself.

I agree, that's what I'm mad about too. For some who are only interested in our political positioning here..it's abotu doing the right thing. The right thing is to point out this blazen double standard and demand the same standard be applied to democratic leadership, including the black caucus members themselves whom I'm sure we can find outrageous examples of racism in. I don't care really for Lott overall--I think he's spineless, but now is a good oppurtunity to point out such hypocracy. Unfortunately, we do not have the media on our side or I can guarantee you the racist black caucus would have backed away from their condemnation when the log in their eye was pointed out to them under pressure.

Yup. Me, too. I don't care that much for Trent Lott as a senator. He caves in too easily, BUT I sure hate to see his head handed to the democrats on a platter.
