One of the purposes of the Canteen is to honor veterans.
Many vets will be spending another holiday season in a VA hospital.
Some vets will suffer from holiday depression.
Will YOU take the time to make a vet smile this Holiday Season?

Thank you! Actually, I also have that picture although it's a smaller size.
Too much snow on this one:
This one I made for our military
I will keep your picture though so I can practice with the lake applet. Hopefully, I will be able to post it here once it's done.
I shall say goodnight to all. God bless you.
To: LaDivaLoca
Good Night Diva thank you for helping out posting great graphics, fun and chatter, great job!

The Paradox Of Our Age
We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers;
wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints;
we spend more, but have less;
we buy more, but enjoy less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families;
more conveniences, but less time;
we have more degrees, but less common sense;
more knowledge, but less judgement;
more experts, but more problems;
more medicine, but less wellness.
We spend too recklessly, laugh too little,
drive too fast, get too angry too quickly,
stay up too late, get up too tired, read too seldom,
watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom and lie too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life;
we've added years to life, not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble
crossing the street to meet the new neighbour.
We've conquered outer space, but not inner space;
we've done larger things, but not better things;
we've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul;
we've split the atom, but not our prejudice;
we write more, but learn less;
plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait;
we have higher incomes; but lower morals;
more food, but less appeasement;
more acquaintances, but fewer friends;
more effort, but less success.
We build more computers to hold more information,
to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication,
we've become long on quantity, but short on quality.
These are the time of fast foods and slow digestions;
tall men and short character, steep profits,
and shallow relationships.
These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare;
more leisure and less fun, more kinds of food, but less nutrition.
These are days of two incomes, but more divorce;
of fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers,
throw away morality, one-night stands, overweight bodies,
and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.
It is a time when there is much in the show window and
nothing in the stockroom.

We can cure physical diesases with medicine, but the
only cure for loneliness, despair, and hopelessness
is love. There are many in the world who are dying
for a piece of bread, but there are many more dying
for a little love.

My hubby is a retired Marine, Aviation Ordnance. The military is always on my mind around the holidays. I know it is hard to be away from home and it is hard for your families too. Hopefully most of you have a set date when you will be able to come home. I don't mean to make anyone sad but to point out that you have great integrity to give up your own wants to serve your country. Your spouses also see the greater good in being willing to let you go and to support you in your service to your country.
Be strong in knowing that God is with you and will sustain you through each day whether it is a bad or a good one. We need you. You are doing a service to us and to those you are helping to be free. I could not sit in my home free if it were not for the bravery of all you and those before you. You are appreciated!
You're all in our prayers!

Kathy, thank you for posting
Ted Maher's picture at 67.
Ted's other home on Free Republic is at the current Ted Maher thread.
One of our friends here is a scientist at the labs who recalls "ground surfing" the underground nuclear tests.
His son served on the Abraham Lincoln.
It's terribly innovative of the Pentagon planners to paralyze Saddam Hussein with the comedy revue "Les Inspecteurs Clouseau"--then drop the bomb on him:

Godspeed and good hunting to the finest fighting force on earth.

Thanks, Aeronaut and Otto, for the daily flyover of protection.
To: Johnny Gage
Hi Johnny. Great to see you. Thanks for the ping and for the info about how we can help military families this holiday season.
