Mcgreedy says billing the taxpayers is a "mistake". Leaving the milk out before leaving for work is a mistake. Putting the wrong date on a business proposal is a mistake. Fleecing the taxpayers for personal benefit is a crime.

...$3,178.48 for a reunion with Irish relatives at a steakhouse in Banbridge, Northern Ireland...

There were only two relatives, and that was the BAR TAB. <|:)~

He couldn't see this was all "a mistake" during its planning? He gave no thought or consideration as to who should appropriately pick up the tab for this junket?

I still think this guy is a closet gay. He looks it and sounds it routinely.

16 grand in cell phone charges is astonishingly high, they must have found a way to be charged the highest rate possible, I don't think u.s. phones will work there in roam mode...

...and running up $16,000 in cellphone bills

I don't hear anyone seriously questioning these charges. Got to be LOTS of calls to the Re-elect Torricelli for Senate campaign.

Mr. McGreevey said he would ask the state Democratic Party to repay almost all of the expenses.

Wow, I'm certainly glad to know that when the taxpayers balk, the DNC will step to the plate. I want to see the DNC set a policy of paying for this sort of abuse, that way they can't afford to push Gore and Hildabeast upon the nation.

"McGreevey Apologizes for Trip's Cost"

He is only sorry he got caught. Does anyone think he wasn't fully aware of what he was doing with my money? I know nothing will happen and the Rats will continue to prosper here in the Garden State.

BTW I was at the Meadowlands Arena on Saturday. How in hell can they tear that place down and put one up in Newark? The place looks great to me.

Another New Jersey loser got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

"Just bill the stupid voters, they don't know any better".

New Jersey voters, you got what you voted for a crook in a three piece suit.

Mr. McGreevey said he would personally repay the cost of the family reunion party. He did not explain why the state Democratic Party should shoulder the remaining costs, and the party referred questions to its spokesman, Richard McGrath, who did not return a phone call requesting comment.

HAW! HAW! HAW! Love how those Dems "take responsibility."

To hell with him. All politicians are liers. His apology is meaningless. If he had any integrity, this would never have happened. He should be made to repay ""all"" of the cost.

I think Verizon charges me $.25 a minute when I go over. Let's assume he was calling the USA at $2.00 a minute (which seems ludicrously high). That's still 133 hours of phone conversations. What was he doing, reciting the bible?
