Regarding Democrats Underground and other such liberal cesspools
Free Republic | Novemeber 25, 2002 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 11/25/2002 2:26:52 PM PST by Jim Robinson

It's no secret. They don't like you and they will ban you whenever they catch you posting to their forums. Who cares? We ban them anytime they register here. It's a fact. Very few people here are interested in reading the DU style spin and regurgitated propaganda.

Those of you who want to rattle their cages are welcome to it, but please do not drag any of their garbage back to FR and please do not bother posting vanities about your experiences with them. It's not wanted here and will be deleted.

Thanks,

Jim

I never heard of "DU" until I saw a post about that the day after the midterms. Visited it a few days later (they were down for a couple days after 11/5 wiping their tears and changing their diapers.) Boy- what a twisted site- talk about tin foil hat wearers. I actually read a post their that was angry because people thought their funerally for Wellstone was disgusting. The author said it was "hateful" for others to judge how they "mourn" and if they chose to "mourn" by booing Republicans off the stage that should be respected and not "judged". Wow- what a bunch of freakin weirdos disconnected from reality.

Wellcome.Do you mind if I occasionally ping you for the "loyal opposition" view?It seems so rare!

I take this as a "settle down, folks" reminder from JR.After the elections, a lot of lattitude was given, but it's time to get real again.I see enough debate from semi-civilized FReepers to get the full compliment of views on most issues.I occassionanly toy with TROLLs, but not as a rule. I already spend way too much time here, and would rather learn new things, than brush up on my "gutter remarks".

Now that the only "cuss" words I use begin with "D" or "I".(democrat or islamic)LOL!

I don't mind a bit ...

I will warn you that I may not be of good entertainment value though, as I am committed to be on my best behavior (I usually am anyway). I will not use direct profanity nor will I insult others. I will instead debate and discuss various topics with an open and CIVIL mind.

I'm with you. However, I will admit to a gloat-filled dip into the DU cesspool on 11/5/02.
That was beyond hilarious. They were about to pass out the purple kool aid.

Yes, but you must admit that the "all your senate are belong to us hack" is an Election Night classic.
I can't decide what was funnier, that or the "Vote November 6" leaflets that got passed out in Baltimore. >:)

I'm guilty and admit it. I also couldn't pass up the "karmic hug" thing the day after the election.

Let it be known that the Democratic party in it's present form DOES NOT represent the beliefs morals nor ideology of those who were Democrats before the communists/socialists highjacked the party.

Ah, very interesting. I did not even notice it was from the Whitehouse.

I find it interesting to read up on these things because frequently I would find myself realizing that I would probably have been a Federalist. I have had debated with Libertarians about these things and all I can say is that the times were different and that the Federalist movement was the key to holding together the U.S.

I would like to recommend reading the "Founding Brothers", its a great read and is very short. I like long books myself but sometimes it is good to read a great book in a day or two. A vast number of pages does not equal wisdom all of the time.

As far as you being able to post here, I do not see a problem. Believe it or not, I originally heard about Freerepublic through the Freedem message boards. I was actually well-liked there but I left after a long period because of lack of dialogue. I asked this question...

"Why does your party oppose raising the amount of money a person can put in an IRA?"

This question was never answered in SIX MONTHS.

When they posted negative things, I was fascinated and checked FR out. I lurked for awhile and then started posting. This site is rough in regards to debates. That should not dissuade you as some of the most furious debates are between Libertarians and Conservatives. Its good entertainment! :D

I have been insulted a few times but I am a grown man and it was never malicious. I was actually told I was jealous of the Upper Middle Class when I said I did not want to pay more taxes for thier extended unemployment. I was getting my revenge or something like that. I replied that I do not do anything personally to them so if they think me wanting to avoid taxation to pay for them as an ataack, so be it. I avoid taxation from everyone. LOL!

Oh, I remember you! I talked with you a bit in your first posting to FR. Economics was the subject. To me, your welcome here anytime.

You might want to try to get on some ping lists of subjests that interest you. A ping list is when you get a NEW MESSAGE alert because someone sends you a thread. They have an automatic list.

Lets see, I myself am on a Black Conservative list, a Turkish list, and the MIlitary Canteen(Kind of like the USO.).

There are so many... just be warned that some of them are high volume, they will send all the info posted on FR that they can find about the subject matter at hand.

You should also remember that FR is a very big place. There are well over 60000 people registered alone, and god knows how many lurk or change accounts or even disrupt. So, if you run into some neanderthal, just be aware that not ALL of us are perfect... just most. :D

Welcome to FR. I love this place. I didn't know it existed until the 2000 elections. I wasn't even interested (really) in politics until I saw the blatent display of dishonesty I thought was going on in the Florida courts. I read DU every now and then, mostly when I'm bored to tears; and usually to see the differing views of politics. But everytime I go there (I only lurk), I am offended by the use of so much profanity, the blame game and nonsense. I am glad FR doesn't want that stuff here. If it was, I'd probably go elsewhere too.

"didn't want to break my... "don't argue with an idiot" rule"

No worries there. As soon as you say something they disagree with you get banned. No argument.

"This rule is nothing new, but it was so hillarius to see the depths of despair, and calls for revolution....It was a nice public service"

I agree. It's been a long time since I laughed so hard as I did at some of those post election threads. After the constant abuse conservatives put up with off of liberals since the Clintons, the laughs we had at their expense were well deserved. Thanks Jim, for letting us play for awhile. It's stopped being fun now anyway. In fact, it is downright depressing over there now. The weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth has gotten boring.

"occasionally you have to argue for the side that you do *not* agree with"

That is an excellent exercise. I sometimes did that with my kids when I was was leader of our church youth group. Besides giving them the ability to look at something through another person's eyes it could be very entertaining as well.

I knew that "Ringer" was out here cause he and my wife who is as raging a liberal as you would want to meet, get into some MAJOR aguments. Ringer hates Clinton and my wife would bear his children if she could. He has talked about Free Republic a few times, so I thought I'd come out here to say hi after I got banned from DU,

and now I'm hooked

"Very confusing and VERY hard to learn how to post pictures and stuff"

It seems that way, but like everything else, it is only hard until you learn how to do it. This site is definitely geared to the self-motivated, but isn't THAT a conservative value after all? One of the things that makes this forum so great is the level of intelligence. I would guess there are few "average" IQ's on the board with most being well above. In other words it would take the combined average IQ of 3 DUh'ers to equal that of one FReeper. Yeah, I know I'm being generous, but I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt. :-)
