Three men have been charged over an alleged plot to release cyanide gas on the London Underground tube network.

The men are north African muslims said to belong to a group linked to al Qaeda.

The alleged plot was foiled after the group was infiltrated by MI5 agents in a six month operation.

The men are thought to be of either Tunisian or Moroccan background and belong to a group called the North African Front, said to have loose connections with Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network.

One of the men is aged 21, the second 33. The third is in his mid 30s.

They appeared at Bow Street Magistrates' Court earlier this week and were remanded in custody.

Details of the hearing were not released by Scotland Yard at the time and have only just emerged.

The three men will re-appear in court on Monday.

Everyone uses the underground! This would have been devastating had the plot not been foiled. Other accounts:

Reports say the suspects are part of a muslim fundamentalist group with links to al-Qaida. Rabah Chekat-Bais, 21, Rabah Kadris, in his mid 30s, and Karim Kadouri, 33, all of no fixed abode, have been charged under Section 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000 for the possession of articles for the preparation, instigation and commission of terrorism acts.

Unemployed Chekat-Bais appeared before London's Bow Street Magistrates Court last Monday and Kadris and Kadouri, also both unemployed, appeared in the court on Tuesday.

All three men were remanded in custody to appear before magistrates again on November 18. Scotland Yard is refusing to comment on claims in the Sunday Times the attack involved releasing cyanide gas on the Tube network. ananova.

Your country is overrun with Muslims. Your government has to do something about them. The threats of making your country an islamic state is nothing for your government to ignore. Like the U.S. your governemnt and ours needs to purge every mosque and keep it up. They also have to stop letting them into your country and we have to do the same thing. I am glad that your authorities found these guys before they could do any harm. I have ridden the tube on a vacation to London. It is a good system like the NYC system. I was surprised how far down underground it is. LOL I thought the escalators would enver stop.

Think of Islamacists having a voting majority in Britain. Pretty soon they would be re-writing English history, removing all references to your royal history and would probably demand demolition of all cathedrals, including Westminster Abbey.
