Three men have been charged over an alleged plot to release cyanide gas on the London Underground tube network.
The men are north African muslims said to belong to a group linked to al Qaeda.
The alleged plot was foiled after the group was infiltrated by MI5 agents in a six month operation.
The men are thought to be of either Tunisian or Moroccan background and belong to a group called the North African Front, said to have loose connections with Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network.
One of the men is aged 21, the second 33. The third is in his mid 30s.
They appeared at Bow Street Magistrates' Court earlier this week and were remanded in custody.
Details of the hearing were not released by Scotland Yard at the time and have only just emerged.
The three men will re-appear in court on Monday.

As long as the American government continues to leave the doors and windows wide open to our house, there will be no Homeland Security.

This is Britain, though. Women and children use the Underground. I am so bloody angry there's probably bloody steam coming out of my ears.

This is the first I have heard of agents infiltrating an al Qaeda cell. Wonder how they got on the inside?

In response to this, Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta announced stepped-up searches of grandmothers, teen-age girls, well-known political figures and war heroes, to go into effect immediately in the nation's mass transit systems.

The US gov needs to seal up all the drafts, just as you winterize a house.

This is the first I have heard of agents infiltrating an al Qaeda cell. Wonder how they got on the inside? Who knows, but thank God they did. This is the second brush with Al Qaeada I've had - my mother was in the New York area on 9/11. I use the Underground almost every day.
I want them all dead, immediately.

Does this have anything to do with this story?
Aromatic Ad Backfires Over Cyanide Fears Thu Nov 14,10:49 AM ET
Add Oddly Enough - Reuters to My Yahoo!
LONDON (Reuters) - The makers of an Italian liqueur have pulled a novel advertising campaign which involved wafting the scent of almonds around London Underground stations after fears that the sweet aroma might be confused with cyanide.
The 1.5 million pound ($2.4 million) wheeze used metal boxes full of almond oils which were positioned at the bottom of escalators in three major stations.
Fans in each box spread the scent around with the idea of prompting travelers to associate it with the aroma of Disaronno amaretto liqueur.
Advertising posters all the way up the side wall of the escalators aimed to help them make the connection.
Unfortunately, as amateur sleuths and readers of Agatha Christie know, almonds smell like cyanide -- not a great selling point at a time of heightened terrorist alert. This week, only three days after the scheme began, the British distributors of the drink withdrew it.
"In the light of the current security situation ... we would under no circumstances want any Disaronno activity to be the cause of any concern," brand manager, Jon Evans, said.

To Al Qaeda Gobshite reading this:
You didn't frighten this Brit, you made him ferociously angry and more determined to see that you all die. We are coming now, you bastards. The SAS is going to cut out your hearts and shove them down your ignorant throats.

Morocco is more dangerous than most people think. The Spanish are aware of this, but I don't think they've received a lot of EU support in their attempts to keep Moroccans from arriving in boatloads on their shores.
Of course, mixed in with Moroccan "economic refugees"(from a corruput and 50-year-old 'dynasty'") are Moroccan and other Islamists.
Nobody - the Brits, the Spanish or the Americans - wants to examine Morocco too closely (not PC, sorry), but I think it's time to start.

We are going to KILL the LOT of YOU. I am afraid not, Ivan: we have already had all the reasons to do so. The Western world is demoralized and does not stand up for its own. That's why we have thousands dead, and that's why we are going to have many more. Well, ultimately it'll be again an outright war of civilizations, nuclear one this time around --- but this all will happen later, precisely because we are not willing to face the truth today.

Oh yes, and Romano Prodi said that he wanted Morocco to join the EU.
I'd like to get out my cricket bat and smack him a few times. No Arab countries. Not now, not ever.
