Media trying to outfox Fox News?
Fox News | 11-8-2 | RandallFlagg

Posted on 11/08/2002 9:00:47 PM PST by RandallFlagg

I was watching my trusty and sacred Fox News tonight. As I was getting a chuckle viewing liberals make panicked attempts to try and get their views out, I noticed something.

During The Fox Report I saw, back-to-back, a commercial for our local CBS news station with the statement, "At six, switch to News4," then, "Turn to Colorado's news team. 9News (NBC)." It was at this point that I saw something odd, so I broke out my little pen and pad and started recording.

From the last 20 minutes of The Fox Report all the way until the last commercial break for Hannity and Colmes, I counted seventeen commercials from CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN and MSNBC that were telling viewers to switch channels "For complete coverage."

I've been watching Fox News religiously ever since President George W. Bush and Al Gore were locking horns in Florida. I have noticed that sometimes they advertise for CNN and some of their other news rivals. Sometimes, I see ridiculous things, like Barbra Streisand's Greatest Hits -Now on CD for only $19.95. I'd try to see if this is happening (Fox News advertising on CNN or the other channels) on other stations, but hearing and seeing their bias simply makes me too nauseous. I don't know if this observation would qualify me for the "Tin Foil Hat Of The Month" club, but I just got to thinking...

The Liberal Democrats have just been handed their hats. Campaign Finance Reform has just taken effect. One political commentator stated, "The Conservative agenda, thanks to radio talk shows and Fox News, has been allowed to be seen by the public (allowed?!?!)." And, Alan Colmes looked like he was almost in tears for the last two airings of Hannity and Colmes. Are Liberals trying to saturate the airwaves with Left-leaning bias in an attempt to get an early start to the 2004 election cycle? Are they so scared that America has turned right that they're making yet another, even more prominent strike to television viewers' senses en masse?

The main reason that Conservative Republicans have scored such a major victory and changed the face of Washington is, IMHO, due to two things. We got out the vote and stood for issues, and they got out the fear and stood on vengence. America saw that and it didn't appeal to her.

If this is an early attempt by Liberals to push an air strike, we must counter. The one way would be fire-with-fire; put out Conservative commercials (Ads for Fox News, the NRA, even a commercial for The Limbaugh Letter). If the mainstream press refuses to air this they should, publicly, be made to answer, "Why?" But we must do more than that. We have a proven method for turning others to see our point of view. The Truth. Explain that Conservatives are not racists because we have a problem with illegal immigration and that we have no problems with legal immigration because it prevents outbreaks of disease and crime. Explain that Conservatives are not bigots because we want every American to empower themselves with the tools to succeed; rather than simply put thousands more on welfare, give them the skills to better themselves by themselves. Explain what Conservatives really stand for: An undying love for America, Her truth, Her integrity, a strong military to protect Her, and lower taxes to better Her citizens. There are many other things that we stand for, and every one of them needs to be put out for all to see. We can also do it without attacking what Liberals stand for. We shouldn't lower ourselves to that point even if our opposition chooses to take this route.

This plan is only the opinion of one Freeper among many. Add to it if you wish, but nevertheless, the message must go out to the country and the world to show what we're made of.

I think this plan will work. It seemed to on November 5th 2002. What do you think?

Sounds good to me! The other channels can advertise on Fox News all they want, it gives revenue to my favorite channel. Admittedly, they advertise because it works. I changed channels the other nite when the CBS commercial on Fox reminded me the CMA Awards were coming on.

Cable and satellite companies often buy commercial time from networks and can then resell them to local affiliates for advertising on channels other than their native slot. I'm not sure how much control the network has over the spots.

If you never watch CBS, how will people ever hear about new CBS shows? So networks often buy these slots from the providers to spread the word.

Shows how desparate CNN and MSNBC are... you never see a Foxnews Channel spot run on CNN. LOL.

It is likely that they are just buying local commerical time on the stations that have a substantial audience... like FOX NEWS!

This sort of thing happens all the time in Dallas. Sometimes I think I see more of Paula Zahn on "Fox and Friends" than I see of Lauren Green.... mmmmm... sorry, I distracted myself.

The more people see how deperate they are to attract people back to their stations without changing the structural reason why people switched away from them the better it is for us. Until they drop all the liberal commenators and liberal storylines nothing will change. Either way, we win.

Liberals are afraid of the truth; it's alien to them. They are afraid, therefore, of FOX, Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, Bill Sammon, (that other guy who wrote Bias), the web, books that we read, etc. But, like it or not, there's more and more conservatives "coming out" and we're staying out. That's what they're afraid of too.

The sheeple are WAKING UP and HEARING; the scales are falling fall from their eyes and SEEING; the sheeple are standing up and TALKING. We will not be deaf, we will not be blind, we will not be SILENCED, any longer! And of that they are afraid, as well, because we have a mission, a purpose, and a vision: it is for good for our country and not for selfish gain and ambition.

CNN and Ted Turner did not realize what hit them upside the head when Fox News Channel rolled out several years ago and the Dimwit Dems didn't see it coming when they were hit upside the head on November 5th. Both are self-destructing and soon will be extinct.

I have DirecTV. There, on FNC and other networks, I see plugs for the History Channel, DirecTV/Blockbuster PPV, etc. Even Boomerang has been pitched in Espanol on Univision or Galavision (I forget which). I've never seen CNN or the Big Three pitched during spot breaks anywhere on DirecTV.

Saw an ad for Connie Chung on FNC the other night. The VU meter dropped considerably during this ad, making it necessary to turn up the volume of you wanted to hear it well. Our local carpet seller had a louder ad.

O'Reilly advertizes on either Nickelodeon (afternoon programming) or Cartoon Network. I see a lot of commercials for him while my kids are watching tv.

If "news" viewers are watching FOX, then that is where you go to advertise your news. Kinda like toy manufacturers advertizing during children's programming. Makes sense to me and clearly an admission of their inferiority :)
