The USO Canteen FReeper Style
Delivering a Touch of Home

A Touch of Home
.
This is how I think of the USO Canteen
Freeper Style. It is like a cottage down a road,
a place where a weary veteran can spend the night.
Since it opened, it is magical how so many
Freepers who post here, feel it too.
It has been so dear how the Freepers
kept making it a cottage - a home-type of
place that had a huge living room
for them to visit in and a dance floor,
a library, etc.
Many Veterans have written to me,
saying that the Canteen is like home
to them for the first time since they
served.
This is your Canteen -
a respite from our busy
and sometimes troubling world.
Make yourself at home.

If you know a Veteran, someone in your family,
friend of the family, neighbor, who served their
country, take a brief moment of your day to thank
them.
Thank them for the sacrifice they made
for the better good of their country.
We at Free Republic, and the USO Canteen FReeper
Style, are thankful for every service member
in our military, who has served our great nation.
So, to the men and women who answered the call,
In both times of war and peace, thank you.
.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

"I am also happy about the results of the elections." We are sure happy too, knighthawk. Those same people who have been complaining for 2 years, will find new reasons to complain.

I had some more to my rant but I felt that the Richard Gere thing was a bit over the top. Besides, he really didn't say anything bad that I can think of, just stupid.
I Ranixed it!
They say (who is "they"?) that ignorance can be cured but stupidity is terminal.

You can ride up front, or we can get out the velcro again and ride on top! Good?

Thanks.

Does your ISP offer free web space? That's one place to upload graphics for later posting...

Good afternoon y'all! Howdy troops, veterans, and allies wherever you may be today. Thank You! for answering the call to duty to our country. We enjoy our Freedom because of you and for that I'm eternally grateful. God bless you all!
I took a glance at the opening to today's thread before I headed out last night...and my nose still burns from the Coke that spewed from it when I laughed. At least I missed the keyboard. LOL!!! I got choked so badly I woke my hubby up. Hilarious, Sam!!

I understand what you mean Kelly. I also miss Souris and MistyCA and several more of my good friends - like Victoria DelSoul and SassyMom and Kneezles and SpookBrat. I'm glad to know that you recognized their talent and wit and appreciated what they brought to the Canteen. It's not the same here without them, in my opinion.
I'm kind of surprised that more people - especially the regulars - haven't asked about them. Gosh, I remember when SAMWolf went on vacation for a week and his face was plastered on Milk cartons! hahahahaha
And I'm really amazed that since their departures, none of the troops' letters have mentioned any of those who left. I know the troops have more important things to do than wonder about the comings and goings at a cyber Canteen, but many of those troops said they liked - even loved - a particular Canteener, then that Canteener is never mentioned again. It's very strange to me.
Oh well, it's nice to meet you. And welcome to the Canteen and FR.

Perhaps some of us "regulars" have inquired about them..........privately.

Hey! I'm very excited! I just got off the phone with a master sergeant at the USMC recruiting office. A lady. She's going to speak to our group of homeschoolers, gathering to make the Christmas cards for our Oper. Dear Abby event! (You know I'm helping to organize it...if you've read my profile.)
I'm also trying to write up a press release for it. Any suggestions?
To: Kathy in Alaska
We ride in a paddy wagon tonight, huh!!
Well here we go again, no jail house outfit!
LOL
To: SAMWolf
WOW SAM, these are awesome photos!
To: radu
