An unnamed Democratic website that seems quite popular has suddenly restricted its access to only those who have donated in the last year.
The reason stated is that the current load on the website's servers is allegedly too heavy. The timing on the move is interesting, to turn away their lurkers and posters on the morning after a smashing defeat. This obviously can't help our opponents morale. Perhaps someone is taking their marbles and going....to Canada.
And you're correct - the timing is verrrry interesting.
What kind of Mickey Mouse operation is this?
Their posters are hurting, bad. And they are easing their pain by posting at DU.
However, the poor amoung them, those who aren't able to afford to donate, they are the ones left out. DU is saying "let'em suffer".
The website is now reserved for only the rich. The rest..............let'em eat cake.
The adults there were embarrassed at the gloom and doom vitriol that flowed freely there last night. Much of it cut and pasted to FR for anyone to see. That's why they shutdown the forums. Here are some gems I posted in another thread

2) Blame the Media
There is a right wing bias in the media today. Turn on the TV in the last two weeks and all you heard were Republicans and DINOs explaining why war on Iraq is a really good idea. The spin that came from the anchors might as well been written by Ari himself. However, the bias in the media today pales in comparison to what we saw in impeachment mania 1998 when we bucked the historical mid-term trend picked up seats. Simple put, media bias alone cannot account for what we saw today.

When I was a very small child, I once stuck a steel, fingernail file into a wall jack. The resulting shock is still one of my more vivid memories. And I have NEVER been so much as tempted to repeat the experience.
I wonder if that will work on populations? We are due for some painful years, I think; will we learn the lesson?
