I've been debating whether or not to post this as I don't intend to open up a religous discussion on this thread. However, election time is drawing near, and our liberties are at stake. I've heard repeated calls on FR to get out and vote. I encourage that as well. Many have said that this election will depend on which party does better with their "get out and vote" methods. We must certainly do our best.

However, I would like to take it a step further. This election may be beyond our control, but we need to recognize that there is one who is sovereign over all.

I say this to suggest that we should be offering up a petition of prayer from now until the election is finalized. I also suggest fasting as a sign of the importance of this issue to yourself. I've started my fast. If you agree to pray and/or fast with me over this, reply to this message with an acknowlegement. I believe if enough people agree to do this diligently, great things will happen.

I will fast from 7:00 pm tonight until 7:00 pm tomorrow for my own polls, and then until Midnight in CA for the polls west of me.

I don't believe God picks sides in an election.

Well, I don't believe that Eve was made from Adam's rib, either. But, I know for a fact that there is evil in this world. Whether or not you want to call it satanic is up to you.

I accepted Christ as my Savior over forty years ago. I still make mistakes, but God forgives them, and he helps me to understand why I made them.

If you make mistakes, do you forgive yourself? Then you must have fun talking to yourself.

I was just trying to help you understand Christian thinking, as I see it. Sorry, if you don't really care. Really, I am.

but I have a question for you... if God's plan is to be carried out regardless, what does prayer do? are we hoping to convince God to change his opinion?

I defer to the pastors.....and ma

Thats basically the cruxt of the cavinist / arminian battles on the relig threads -

can we give this gentleman a reasoned response - I know prayer works and I know God has interceded in my life and those I pray for.

Jesus was God , with all the knowlege of God..yet He prayed..

God heard all our prayers before they were ever prayed..Our prayers are a part of Gods plan with men

Just as men are part of Gods plan of salvation..our prayers are a part of Gods plans..

All of our prayer is for the will of God..we are to pray at the prompting of the Holy Spirit

This does not mean that prayer is a force or has energy in and of itself but that prayer becomes a way in which God invites us to co-labor with him in accomplishing his purposes. Prayer is never a way for us to manipulate God. It is always his way of involving us in governance and kingdom building

Glad you posted this. Prayer IS needed. You're absolutely correct. Our church (a quite sizeable one) has an "intercessory prayer" service every Sunday evening........and last evening we prayed for the country and for a positive result in tomorrow's elections. I'll leave it to the reader to decide what that means.

Why Was Clinton Elected Twice?

If is wasn't for Bill Clinton, I would not have become a Republican. The Hillary Health Care Plan drove me to Rush, because the press were not explaining what it was. Rush opened my eyes, and the rest is history.

God Bless Bill Clinton (he needs it!)

Prayer makes a difference.

Your NOT doing what is right will be what happens before time began.

Your doing what is right will be what happens before time began.

Your choice will be what will happen in the before time began.

Personal and humble opinion to your question in #100:
I believe God had to allow us to truly and fully hit bottom. And if clinton as president wasn't the bottom - I don't know what is! Also, I don't believe God chooses one team over another either - but he DOES choose good over evil. The most passionate democrats have their own agenda -and it is exactly opposite ours. They support Gay marriage, abortion, sodomy with youngsters and other perversions. I don't believe those democrats pray anyway - except to gaia or some other such nonesense. Unfortunately, those who do pray are the ones who will vote dem not matter what.

So how about sending up/out a provisional prayer just in case---that will cancel out a vote from your counterpart democrat. We need to cover all the bases.

I received this email note today addressed to Jay Wolfe's campaign---and I wanted to share it because it blessed me mightily...

She writes:

I know it is late (one day before election), I don't even know if this will be read before election, but here goes.

I home school my two children, and I read this in their Bible story of the day." Where there are just a few Christians who believe and pray any battle can be won. God can do anything but fail."

I have been praying for Jay Wolfe with this statement in mind. Nothing is too great for God to defeat , including Rockefellers money. I started a prayer chain.

From 5:30am election day people will be praying 30 minutes at a time till the time polls close. I had no problem filling these half hour slots. My pastor Joe xxxx was one of the first to sign, including his wife, many deacons, housewives, working men, working women, dear gray haired prayer warriors, old and young of many different backgrounds but we all have one thing in common. We know that Jay Wolfe is a man of God who would serve us proudly. We know that Jay Wolfe is what West Virginia needs, he also would be a credit to the whole Senate.

Most importantly we believe in the power of prayer and that God wants to do great things. We are not praying with a defeated attitude, we are praying , believing. I hope this can be of some encouragement.

We may not have Rockefellers money but we do have something worth far more. May God bless you and your family and staff. Keep up the good work ,and your effort and work has not been in vain. To the future Senator- God bless you! Sincerly a sister in Christ, xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
