MORE INTERESTING ELECTION NEWS
Fiedor Report On the News #294 ^ | 11-3-02 | Doug Fiedor

Posted on 11/02/2002 9:58:19 AM PST by forest

For your amusement on election day, Voter News Service (VNS) will be at it again. Y'all remember them, don't you? That's the consortium owned by ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox, and AP that says it counts actual votes for newscasters on election day. The problem is, they also do exit polling in a few targeted precincts and that is what they base their results on. That is the information used by the networks to project winners in individual races.

VNS is the group most responsible for totally screwing up what was reported by all TV networks in 2000. Which was interesting, because networks had the correct results in the crawler at the bottom of the screen but, at the same time, had the talking heads giving totally inaccurate projections.

To further keep your interest, Florida gets to vote yet again. Of course, 80% of Florida has absolutely no problem voting -- unless VNS again has the talking heads wrongly announce who won before the polls even close. . . . .

It's down around Miami-Dade and Broward counties where people cannot seem to vote without having a personal trainer show them how. They were even able to screw up the vote in the last primary, after the State bought fancy new touch screen voting machines just to make them stop whining. As we always say, friends do not allow Democrats to operate an election (or vote) unsupervised. They cannot get it right.

Florida's Governor Bush gave them the benefit of the doubt this time, saying that recent efforts of Miami-Dade and Broward counties to fix things is going to get it right.

He's wrong. And, just to insure things stay really messed up there, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is sending in a troop of carpetbagger lawyers to kibitz. So, look for the possibility of that vote count going on forever, just like in 2000. Watch for them. DNC programmed lawyers will be "helping" in other states, too.

If anyone still needs a reason to vote straight Republican this time, here's two: Bill and Hillary.

First, Bill and Hillary are pushing for H. Carl McCall to win the governor's race in New York. But, McCall is expected to loose big time. At the moment, Governor George Pataki has a 20-point lead in the race. That will take a lot of wind out of the Clinton sails because they appear to be the destruction of the New York Democratic Party. Fact is, the third party candidate may get as many votes as McCall, which is a real slap in the face for the Clintons.

Then comes Democratic National Committee Chair Terry McAuliffe, a hand-picked stooge of the Clintons. We have it from a few good sources that if the Democrats do not do well in this election, McAuliffe is fired. Better yet, the Clintons will have used up most of their chits with the DNC leadership and Hillary will be looked on doubly unfavorably.

Sounds good on this end. It's time they dummy up for a while.

Michigan has an interesting governor's race between Republican Dick Posthumus and Democrat Jennifer Granholm. Posthumus runs conservative adds with political substance. Granholm, on the other hand, says absolutely nothing of substance. But, she's got a problem. She's a liberal lawyer and has no other experience. In Southeastern Michigan, Granholm runs a lot of very nasty race-related adds, insinuating that Posthumus would be racially divisive and "mean" to Detroiters.

As we have said many times, Jennifer Granholm would make an excellent news reader on television. But, as an executive, she is the Peter Principle personified. The Democratic Party allowed her to run simply because they think she would be easy to control.

The governor's race in California is also interesting. More proof on Governor Gray Davis' illegal shenanigans recently came out but is not getting a lot of media play. One reason is because Davis had aides call media outlets and threaten them with lawsuits if they run with that information. Still, some information on Davis' illegal "pay to play" policy for businesses wanting favorable treatment from the State government came out. We hope that was enough.

Republican candidate Bill Simon is catching Davis. But, at the rate he's moving up on Davis, there may not be enough time left to pull off a win. That's a shame, too. Simon would do a much better job as the State's chief executive. The only thing Davis knows how to run is his dirty mouth -- a steady stream of expletives and deceptions.

For the amusement of all American voters, the former representative from Ohio, James A. Traficant Jr., is running an election campaign from prison. Since he was ousted from Congress, he is asking voters to re-elect him to show they don't fear the government.

"No American should fear their government," Traficant says in a campaign commercial. "You and I both know that many Americans fear their government."

Traficant is running as an independent against Democrat Tim Ryan and Republican Ann Womer Benjamin. "I believe I can do a better job than half the people down in Washington," he says.

Traficant is right. Picking names at random from the telephone book would produce much better representation in Congress than half of the ones there now. There's little doubt of that. Besides, if Traficant won, it would provide a constant source of amusement to many Americans around the country.

Anyway, go vote. Then, enjoy the DNC's paid activists new and unusual methods of dissembling the truth and disrupting the results when their candidates lose. It should be a very funny show. That is, it would be very funny if it weren't also such serious business.

Does anyone remember what the polls said before the Republican sweep in '96? Did any of the polls predict it? If I remember correctly, we were all stunned, but I could be wrong.

I think we're getting closer to figuring out how to do this, except the candidate needs to BE,not NAMED Posthumus.

But, McCall is expected to loose big time.

Loose what, a gigantic post-election Demo-fart?

One of the worst aspects of the 2002 election is the certain Democrat pickup of the MI governorship. It is clear that Dick Posthumus is the superior candidate! But the people are "too blind to see."

Most polls had the rats with a 4-5% lead in the generic congressional, the media was shocked. Rush predicted it and Zogby saw trouble in his last poll.

That is very frustrating to this Michigander. Granholm is about as left as Hitlary. She's for reparatoin$, gay marriages and tax increases. I don't get it - except for the fact that she bows to the unions.

I don't know. The gap has been narrowing.

Has Posthumus just campaigned on economic issues and ignored the social issues? If so, he made a fatal error in strategy. He might have peeled off some unionists with conservative social views had he made those important to his campaign. Perhaps though MI has fewer than 1 million social conservatives. I think this Granholm has the same mesmerizing hold on MI as that arrogant Jeanne Shaheen does in NH.

There is something very surreal about this election. The Democrats are running dead people for office and the Republicans have a candidate named Posthumus. Estimating voter turnout from the graveyards is sounding less incredible every day that goes by.

I think I remember that scenario now. Thanks.

After Florida in the 2000 election, democrats saw what kind of chaos and uncertainity they were allowed to cause, thus casting doubt on the process. To this day they say that Gore actually won, tainting the presidency of GW Bush. There is no stopping them now since they know that the media will go along with their despicable lies. This election should be interesting to say the least.
