So far it doesn't look like the ship is going to roll.
It is resting against one of the large cranes, but still floating on its own. There is a concern that it began taking on water, which caused the imbalance.

I have now!
Pearl Harbour?
Speaking of container ships, what happened to the one off Fla. that was to be searched for explosives?
To: Ramius

Hmmmm, couldn't be anything to do with how the longshoremen picked it, could it?
Time to decertify the ILWU.

Container ship listing in Seattle's Elliot Bay10/26/2002
From Associated Press and KING5.com Staff Reports
SEATTLE - A container ship docked at Pier Five in Seattle's Elliot Bay began listing early this morning. The Coast Guard says a Seattle fire boat is on the scene and tugs are on the way.
Coast Guard Chief Rod Rooen says workers were loading the ship when it was found to be taking on water. The ship, the Westwood Rainier, is listing toward the pier.
NWCN
A cargo ship, in danger of capsizing, lists badly at Seattle's Pier 5 on Eliott Bay. KING5 News reports the ship is touching the cranes that were being used to load the cargo. The ship is beginning to list badly as the tide comes in. High tide is expected at about 10:00 a.m.
Rooen says no one is injured and all the crew members have left the ship.
Authorities say there is no hazardous material onboad the ship and there is no sign of any fuel leak.
Investigators with the Coast Guard Marine Safety Office are responding.

It didn't really have explosives on it. False alarm.

Santa is to blame.
He's making a list, checking it twice.

couldn't be anything to do with how the longshoremen picked it, could it? Good question. From the look of the pictures, it doesn't look like it is floating low in the water. It couldn't have taken on much water. I'm tempted to think that a loading imbalance is part of it.
Note that this ship came in yesterday for *unloading*. It wasn't loaded in Seattle, but was presumably in the process of unloading. Still has containers stacked high on deck.
