Not to rain on your parade, amigo, but I invite your attention to a smiliar situation in 1995.
Shamil Basayev, another Chechn warlord, loaded a bunch of his boys, some in Russian uniform, into captured Russian Army trucks and drove across the border to a town by the name of Budyanevosk (sic for sure). There they seized a hospital with lots of folks inside. The Russians responded and brought in Alfa. To sum up, Alfa hosed the job termendously...lots of troopers and hostages dead and wounded, Chechens still in control of hospital. Basayev negotiated a deal that not only got he and his guys out, it also brought at least a temporary end to that round of the Chechen War. I would say that this current bunch hopes to emulate that feat.
