Mr. Moose just held another news conference. Said the Police Department couldn't communicate electronically with the sniper in the manner he requested. What a mess.
The police said call back to get an 800 number or a PO Box.
That's a possibility.Like you say, there is no telling what the FBI knows. He may be threatening a mass slaying or something of that nature.Hopefully very few of his plans will come to fruition.I'm real curious if there will turn out to be a political statement,or simple lunacy. Pay close attention to what is being said, but more important to what is NOT being said.
1. Not once has a suit said "We do not believe this to be a terrorist incident. We believe this to be an isolated case". Very key I believe.
2. Chief Moose seems to accentuate the phrase "the person or the PERSONS doing this". I do not believe I have heard him use one without the other yet. Some significance to that.
3. Very few if any Feds "weighing in" on the case. Note quite sure the significance of this. Administration, Senators, Representatives, DC City officials, dogcatchers. Noone. Decorum? Other reasons? Don't know.
It is called DCC . Direct computer connection. Very similar to ICQ.

I know what you mean, and there's often some value in that, but it's also an argumentum ex silentio, so hard to assess. Maybe the only value for them to say that would be to get into a flames war on FR.
2. If Chief Moose said "person" then maybe people would say "How do you know it's just one person? Who is he? Where does he live? Why do you keep saying 'person' if you don't know?" etc.
3. It keeps it more manageble if only one guy is doing the official talking during a crisis.
I'm with you. If our borders were closed, and as many non-citizens as possible had been sent home after 911, we wouldn't be dealing with this kind of speculation, and the authorities would have one less possibility to deal with.
Maybe someone should set up a government agency to deal with stabilizing the population and dealing with foreign and domestic terrorists. Call it Homeland Security...(sarcasm)
And my other vote is with Captain Moose. He seems to be doing a nice job with an unchartered situation.
Thank you. At least somebody around here is smart enough to get it. Sheesh, the simplemindednes of some posters scare me. They can't possibly imagine that they aren't privy to what is happening behind the scenes. They all think the news reports are the full jist of everything going on, and that armed with the information from a Fox newsbabe report, they are qualified to judge the people handling the case or even call the shots themselves. And if they aren't told of the investigator's next move, or every detail the investigators knwo, they get all indignant. "Duh, come on Chief Moose, tell us where you think he might be and that authorities are on their way to look into it, right here on national TV where the scumbag is listening in!"
Well, only so many hours in the day.
What does the shooter do after he runs out of money and wants more?
Paying terrorists is never a good thing. Whether he is acting alone or on behalf of an organized body, his attacks are meant to strike terror into the minds of those around Washington DC.
Thanks. I was aware. I only asked the question because so many here were saying that he was "fired" in Portland.
That's the way they fire people at that level all over the country...hello to you. Usually, it is called "forced into retirement". I was just trying to clarify rather than flying off the handle with half of the facts.
