Let us now happily observe the Navy's shiny and world-renowned Blue Angels precision flying team roaring over S.F. Bay, shaking the office windows and triggering a million car alarms and inducing coronaries in the elderly and panicking the easily panickable into thinking Armageddon is at hand at last, take me Jesus I am ready, oh wait, damn, it's just Fleet Week.

We are a long way from a world holding hands and drinking Coke. Mark, Jimmy, there are evil people in the world that want to do real harm to other people. However, there are people like the Blue Angles and the thousands in uniform that are willing to die to stop them. They are the heros that deserve peace prizes.
This column is pretty much typical of his output. He instinctively bashes ANYTHING that might be vaguely construed as "mainstream American" in this whiny, self-absorbed manner. And as one critic pointed out, his endless run-on rants are reminiscent of adolescent letters to punk fanzines.
Still, he's a pretty accurate representative of a type and an attitude that infests the Bay Area.
He's angst ridden because he's a homo.
"Of course everyone knows these planes are weapons of war, but few of us perhaps truly imagine the powerlessness of those under attack, imagine the victims of these huge and glistening and sun-kissed and biggerfasterdeadlierthanyours fighters, these insanely destructive jets, the sheer unbridled terror, what is must be like for the" enemies of America, cowering in their caves, behind their camels. Imagine the regret they experience, just before the JDAM's hit, about knocking down those buildings and killing those 3,000 innocents with airplanes. Imagine how much they'd rather be in a peaceful Bali, instead of the Bali we know today because of their ill-advised bombing.
See, I could be an Editor for the Chronicle...
panicking the easily panickable - such as the writer.
butt-clenching roar of the six powerful F/A-18 Hornets - to easy
causing ten thousand Marina babies to cry - such as the writer.
aggro-military machismo ???what does that mean???
they are loaded with terrible deeper meanings, industrialized brutal poetry???...nevermind
These very same aircraft are awesome machines of violent destruction - now your getting it Berky: kill people and break things - the purpose of the military.
"We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something, you use them as a punchline! I have neither the time, nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said 'Thank you', and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you are entitled to!"
Co. Nathan Jessup, "A Few Good Men"
Your semi-hysterical prose deserves a response, and the response might as well be a speech by a fictitional character. However, the speech is absolutely correct when it comes to you and your ilk. Only filth and drivel spew forth from you, rather than thanks for the freedom such engines of war provide for you.
Actually, I think he may be straight. Again, the Bay Area is swarming with het males like him who adopt the "sensitive" pose largely because they (erroneously) think it will score points with the ladies.
A T-shirt I saw put it best: "I used to be a SEXIST, but CHICKS HATE THAT SH*T"!
Imagine if they were actually dropping that nasty ordinance on his ass.
But those scary planes do exactly the opposite - they keep the bad guys ordinance off of him, so he can excercise his right to cower and whine.
The authors a sissified pinko idiot who probably has never even talked to a uniformed serviceman much less understands the job.
The Blue Angels have been, and remain, the best aerial acrobatics team in the world. (I still liked them better when they flew A-4s!!!)
