Bill O'Reilly Aiding Media Campaign Against Jeb Bush?
Myself

Posted on 10/16/2002 12:20:28 PM PDT by Retired Chemist

Bill O'Reilly has had several Florida media people and childrens advocates on his show! All of them have been very critical of Governor Bush and I can't remember any of them saying much favorable about the Governor! It appears O'Relly wants to see Governor Bush defeated! Am I wrong in this opinion?

O'Reilly has to prove his independence from time to time. Jeb is the sacrificial lamb this time.

Bill O'Reilly is an ally not a friend to the cause

The best solution I've found is to stop watching the buffoon.

His comments and bogus assertions last night arguing against the knowledgeable doctor that condoms do in fact stop viral infection was over the top. What an idiot.

I worked with someone that was once a manufacturing engineer for a company that produced latex gloves and condoms. The truth is that the holes in latex resemble a human sized doorway to a mouse sized virus. There is no assurance whatsoever that using a condom will prevent AIDS.

Whenever I lapse in turning the channel when he comes on I am further confirmed in my low opinion of him.

He seems to be biting on the Rosie O'Donnell cause of Homosexual Foster Parent/Adoption cause. You combine that effort with the disturbing stories of foster care system abuse regarding the disappearance of a child in foster care (still missing) and the foster parent cashing checks month after month and Bill thinks he has found another cause.

He blames the governor who hasn't said or done a whole lot about the situation, as far as I know...maybe some Florida freeper has more details.

Let me state from the outset, although I am not a Florida voter (not even a dead one), I would much prefer Bush be governor than another tax/spend/liberal Democrat.

That said, however -- Jeb Bush's failure to clean out and clean up the child protective services debacle is outrageous.

I truly believe O'Reilly's target is the system, not Jeb Bush -- but, it's damn near impossible not to hold him ultimately accountable for this failed system.

Yes, he inherited it -- but, he's not demonstrating a intensive effort to fix it.

In the case of Jeb Bush vs. the Florida child protective services, O'Reilly is doing nothing more than calling a spade a shovel.

I am not a Florida voter nor an O'Reilly follower. My husband likes O'Reilly but every time I hear him I am not impressed. Like "WaveThatFlag" said, he's an ally not a friend. Allies are good, so I'm not trying to slam the guy. I think he tries to do an honest job, probably, but sometimes he seems like he's trying to prove a point about himself more than he's trying to take an honest stand on an issue. (key word: Sometimes) No one is perfect.

If Jeb Bush doesn't want anybody to attack his performance on fixing the child protective services in Florida, he should ensure that the child protective services in Florida cease to suck.

To date, he has not, so the criticism is warranted.

I still hope he wins though.

O'Reilly is a registered independent.

Gov Bush said during his election he was going to clean up the department of child services and he didnt, in fact the scandal got worse as the department LOST children under its control. As a result, I think some criticism is due. Other than that I think he is sympathetic to Bush. But point is he has no reason to hold back on reporting something that Gov Bush is screwing up just because Bush is running for re-election. Perhaps Bush should have fired the woman running that department and taken other actions to improve the departments operations. I think your anger is misdirected.

Your thoughts were mine, as I watched Bill last night. Jeb hasn't made the foster system a big priority, so Bill will push him to do or push him into private life. Bill will have made his point either way.

4 administrations have tried to solve the problems with Florida's child care system & have failed. Bush had a new computer system installed which was supposed to solve some of the problems but they still persist! The media never discusses the lousy parents & relatives that are responsible for the kids ending up in foster care!

A lot of members of the media register independent. They try to use it as a sheild to claim they are not stark raving mad liberal democrats.

He was totally against gay adoptions until Rosie was on his show. Then he must have experienced some kind of celebrity-induced meltdown because now he seems a tad softer on the issue.

He probably isn't aware that the women who fostered little Ridalya (that's not right), and who say they are her grand-mother & aunt, are really a gay couple.

Nor the incompetent social workers who are difficult to fire.....grrrr!

In the recent case of Rilya Wilson the two (Lesbian) caretakers never reported her missing & continued to cash their checks. The state social worker failed to check on her & just filed false reports.

I have serious doubts that this Rilya Wilson is even missing. My guess is that her grandmother shipped her out of the state to relatives or friends to get her out of the state system.

The key ingredient to fixing the system is NOT buying a new computer. Instead Bush should hold accountable (that means prosecute) those bureaucrats who fail to do their jobs to an extent so egregious it results in harm, including death, to innocent, defenseless children.

Read Linda Chavez' article today about the failure to hold accountable ANYONE at the INS for multiple and CONTINUING failures within that system. Linda holds Dubya accountable, as she should !!

Bill uses the shotgun approach to attract an audience - have a little something for everybody. If you don't like what he is saying right now, wait a few minutes and he will move on to another topic and take a completely different stance.
