REV. JERRY FALWELL CALLS THE PROPHET MOHAMMED 'A TERRORIST'

The Rev. Jerry Falwell will call Islam’s founder and most sacred figure, Mohammed, "a terrorist" on 60 MINUTES this Sunday night, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

“I think Mohammed was a terrorist. I read enough…by both Muslims and non-Muslims, [to decide] that he was a violent man, a man of war,” Falwell tells CBS. “In my opinion…Jesus set the example for love, as did Moses, and I think Mohammed set an opposite example.”

Falwell hits total controversy while affirming the Christian Right’s steadfast support for the state of Israel against its Islamic enemies.

The interview with CBS reporter Bob Simon, in which Falwell hints that the Christian Right influences U.S. government policy toward Israel, has been set for broadcast, network sources say.

MORE

Falwell sent a personal protest to President Bush, and the White House received 100,000 e-mail protests from Christians when Bush urged Israel to remove its forces from Palestinian towns earlier this year. Falwell believes Bush is well aware of the Christian constituency. “There are 70 million of us…[and] there’s nothing that would bring the wrath of the Christian public in this country down on this government like abandoning or opposing Israel on a critical matter,” Falwell tells Simon.

Falwell and conservative Christians support the Israelis and condemn their enemies because they believe the triumph of Israel is God’s will. The Jews’ return to their ancient homeland – and sole ownership of the territories Arabs and Israelis both lay claim to -- is a precondition for the second coming of Christ, according to the Fundamentalist Evangelical Christians’ interpretation of the Bible. The Biblical scenario is not a savory one for many Jews, however. “God save us from these people,” says Israeli political analyst Yossi Alpher. “When you see what these people are encouraging Israel and the U.S. to do…ignore the Palestinians, kick them out…they are leading us into a scenario of out-and-out disaster,” he tells Simon.

But disaster is part of the scenario. Many Fundamentalist Evangelicals believe there will be catastrophic events on earth, some occurring already, including the turmoil in the Middle East, culminating in the Battle of Armageddon in which Christ will triumph and begin ruling the earth. At this point, they believe, non-believers will be destroyed, good Christians saved and any remaining Jews converted to Christianity.

Says Ed McAteer, a founder of the Moral Majority and known as the godfather of the Christian Right, “I believe that we are seeing prophecy unfold so rapidly and dramatically and wonderfully, and, without exaggeration, [it] makes me breathless.”

And the passivity of you older conservatives has really led me to inheriting a great nation. There was a time for McArthur....and there is AGAIN a time for McArthur. Passivity will only get us killed. I refuse to be silenced and "play the game". What is right is right. Period.

There is an old saying, "Never insult the alligator before you cross the stream." IMO this was Newt's biggest downfall. He felt like he had to insult everybody before the battle began. How well did his strategy work? He lost everytime he went up against Bill Clinton, who acted publicly like he was above all the bickering, while Newt himself looked angry, mean and petty.

A wiser strategy is to be publicly agreeable, while working feverish behind the scenes to promote your agenda and kill the Dems. [kill the Dems' agenda, that is.]

Maybe he chooses this time because he is not a politician, plus he does know that the truth is what sets people free. Who cares what the liberals and media will make of this, they are never going to agree with anything decent, moral, good or true coming from politicians or citizens. They are always angry and against what is right.

I guess Lincoln was an idiot as well. In one of his speeches he called the calamity of the American Civil War retribution from God for the sins of the country. Very similar in tone to Falwell's argument.

With all the hundreds on TV droning out "Islam means peace" he'll be drowned out. But at least he has the guts to say it and not back down.

Reality Bump. As if the world hasn't gotten the message a thousand years ago.

agreed - and Falwell is in love with his mug & the camera - so he obliges - Dont get me wrong - I agree with his sentiments - but we dont need a political imbecile making it easier for democraps

If speaking the truth makes it easier for the Dems then so be it. Everywhere we turn the TV there are shameless talking heads telling us that Islam is a religion of peace. At least Falwell has the guts to tell the truth.

Why can't someone lioke Falwell, who claims to have so much political sense, realize that the liberals in the media are looking for an election year smear against the Religious Right?

Falwell's sentiments are shared by many Americans. And the ones who hate him for it, don't vote Repub anyway. Speaking the truth is more important than lying to win an election; at least it should be.

Any Westerners bold enough to speak the truth should be applauded. As of right now, its basically Robertson and Falwell while the WH and the State Dept feed us pablum about peace and allies and the coalition.

Don't forget Franklin Graham

This is EXACTLY what "60 Minutes" is trying to do. And Falwell is too stupid to see it.

Falwell was asked a direct question. Would you prefer that he lie?

But don't be fooled. There are also a lot of born again Christian conservatives who dislike his proud, haughty finger-pointing ways on television.

He may appeal to a very small base of the conservative vote. But do his people really need to be convinced that Mohammad is a bad guy? I don't think so.

Many scholars missed the part that said the end times must include Israel becomming a nation again.

The Bible says that believers in Jesus are the Israel of God, the true Israel, the only Israel that matters.

Don't you think that regarding the part they have played, are playing and will play in the future, that the modern nation of Israel comprised of the remnants of Judah's tribe {and a few others} matters as well? Seems to me that considering the Prophesies that have yet to come true they have an important part to play yet in the eventual salvation of mankind. A part that is playing out all around us.

How very sad. They always seem to pick the children and women to gun down. Terrorists have no hearts. It's really demonic.

But if there WAS any reason for their hatred, it was mostly the work of the left, not the right.

It's the forced imposition of birth control, abortion, feminism, and similar NWO projects on third-world nations that they most deeply resent. They also despise us, with some reason, for our pornography, our Hollywood decadence, and for having a president who (as one of our military leaders was fired for saying), was a lying, draft-dodging womanizer.

I often pray with my church that we may live so as to have credibility with the hindus, who value spiritual reality, and with the muslims, who value integrity, and with both, who value famlies.
