Tribute To HEROES
![](http://208.56.83.11/dogtags.gif)
While the dogtag is used to provide information on an individual serviceman, I also believe that the chain which holds them represents a connection to all servicemen, no matter where you served, how you served or when you served. The Minuteman in 1776 has a connection to the soldier fighting in Afghanistan today. That connection is every individual who has ever served in the United States Military. Each of us represents a link in the chain that connects that Minuteman of over 200 years ago to the soldier in Afghanistan today. SAMWolf |

Tribute to Vietnam Veterans
Please click on picture. The great intangible of America's wars beyond logistics, beyond strategy, beyond wonder weapons and Generals, is the spiritual force of its fighting men and women - and that is the force that the USO so serves.

Tomkow6 extended his hand to the Marine and thanked him for wearing the Marine uniform and for serving our country. The Marine seemed shocked that someone would thank him and want to shake his hand. Just after 9-11 I thanked a Military man for protecting us at an airport. He was shocked too. Pretty sad.
Started a "Support Our Troops" movement with the USO at my kids school. I can't believe the enthusiasism! (Even the democrats think it's great. Gives me hope their leadership is wwwwwwway out of touch and they might notice.)
Show you me what you want to pass out, and I'll consider it. I have access to all the D.C. military bases but my major goal this season is to have my fellow Marylanders never hear the name Kathleen Kennedy Townsend again.

Excellent thread!!!! One thing I love about the Canteeners is how everyone feeds off each others ideas and comments and works together. This a perfect example. And I love the idea of the business cards!

Fantastic idea, Bunny! Great thread, Jen! I will print out some cards and hand them out religiously! I think I would also like to make some up using the Canteen truck and planes and little cyber cars we girlz love so much! Also, perhaps a 9-11 background graphic, or our troops as a background graphic. My goodness, the ideas and options for this are endless! Thanks to both of you for making such a good idea a reality! :) You know that old expression.....the best thing since sliced bread! Well, this really is! :)

Today's FEEBLE attempt at humor:
A man and a woman were having dinner in a fine restaurant. Their
waitress, taking another order at a table a few paces away noticed that
the man was slowly sliding down his chair and under the table, with the
woman acting unconcerned. The waitress watched as the man slid all the
way down his chair and out of sight under the table.
Still, the woman dining across from him appeared calm and
unruffled, apparently unaware that her dining companion had
disappeared.
After the waitress finished taking the order, she came over to the
table and said to the woman, "Pardon me, ma'am, but I think your husband
just slid under the table."
The woman calmly looked up at her and replied firmly, "No, he
didn't. He just walked in the door."

USO Canteen FReeper Style - "Thank You Troops and Veterans" - Oct. 2, 2002
Good title...and a prod to get me to finally write a card to a gent in my old
hometown, Jake McNiece.
He survived four combat jumps during WWII (D-Day and the rest) and was apparently
a severe discipline case.
I only knew him as a quiet postman whose family attended the same church as our family.
(I didn't believe people who said he'd been a hard-core paratroopin' soldier until I
saw his name listed in the references of one of the Cornelius Ryan books.)

Air Power
NORTH AMERICAN F-86A "SABRE"
The F-86, the USAF's first swept-wing jet fighter, made its initial flight on October 1, 1947. The first production model flew on May 20, 1948, and on September 15, 1948, an F-86A set a new world speed record of 670.9 mph. Originally designed as a high-altitude day-fighter, it was subsequently redesigned into an all-weather interceptor (F-86D) and a fighter-bomber (F-86H).
As a day fighter, the airplane saw service in Korea in three successive series (F-86A, E, and F) where it engaged the Russian-built MiG-15. By the end of hostilities, it had shot down 792 MiGs at a loss of only 76 Sabres, a victory ratio of 10 to 1.
More than 5,500 Sabre day-fighters were built in the U.S. and Canada. The airplane was also used by the air forces of 20 other nations, including West Germany, Japan, Spain, Britain, and Australia.
