USO Canteen FReeper Style - "Thank You Troops and Veterans" - Oct. 2, 2002

Good title...and a prod to get me to finally write a card to a gent in my old
hometown, Jake McNiece.
He survived four combat jumps during WWII (D-Day and the rest) and was apparently
a severe discipline case.

I only knew him as a quiet postman whose family attended the same church as our family.
(I didn't believe people who said he'd been a hard-core paratroopin' soldier until I
saw his name listed in the references of one of the Cornelius Ryan books.)

Terrific! It's so good to see Canteeners taking action to honor and thank our veterans. Mr McNiece sounds like quite a character. Maybe he'll tell you some stories you can share with us! Have a great day.

to the USO Canteen. Our daily goal is to honor our troops, our veterans, their families and our allies, and to provide them a place to come and feel comfortable and just put their feet up and relax. To this end, we know that their Canteen is providing this very place because our hostess, Snow Bunny, shares their emails on Mail Call Monday.

Please thank Mr McNiece, on behalf of the USO Canteen, for his service to our country.
