Martha Toogood Is Sick Now
Various | Sep. 25, 2002 | Self

Posted on 09/25/2002 12:05:15 PM PDT by A Vast RightWing Conspirator

Since the Martha Toogood's story is being dissected into the most minute details, here's one aspect not yet discussed:

- Martha gets a spanking from her mommy (some call it a savage beating). Whatever that was, it turns out that not one doctor, not even the prosecutor could find any sign of abuse such as bruises, cuts, broken bones, missing limbs or rigor mortis. In fact there are nude pictures apparently showing Martha as intact as ever.

- The state takes Martha under its own loving wing and... MARTHA IS SICK NOW!!! In fact, Martha is so sick, not even her mother can be allowed to see her.

Can anyone explain what's going on here? Is Martha better off with the authorities in charge? Or is she a victim of the authorities loving care. Perhaps too much love got Martha sick?

Thanks for the links Dennis. I've been aware of the Travelers group for some time. I wasn't aware these folks were involved to the degree they are. Evidently the Toogoods are very much involved with a lot of criminality. Looks like mom has doomed the family by her recent actions.

Ummm, with both parents crooks with rap sheets and both probably about to spend time in jail who do you suggest the child be put with? The "extended" family that lives the same life style and are probably crooks as well? You know, it's not ALWAYS cool to hate the government.

So let me get this straight. You're saying that the people that had Martha AFTER the beating are responsible for her being sick now because she wasn't sick before. Do I have that right? In that case then, since Martha wasn't sick when she was born does that make Madelyn responsible for the first time she was sick AFTER she was born? Does that make her irresponsible then in your mind? And should she be taken away from her mother because she got sick?

Um, she would have to be dead to suffer rigor mortis.

In case you didn't know this, 50% of all child abuse resulting in the death of a child occurs with the child in state custody/foster care. And most of the children in foster care were taken by various CPS agencies on UNSUBSTANTIATED charges of abuse.

Do you have a citation or link for these statistics?

I'm not saying the Amish/Mennonite are anything more than different and I've heard comments of the abuse of their children by overworking them, by being dirty, by not following the same rules regarding medical care and health care. The rule seems to be that you have the right to be just as different as I am; anything else is abuse. Everyone makes up their own criteria and anyone who doesn't meet those criteria must be abusing their children. So far I have not seen CPS going through the criminal records and taking children from all parents with a criminal record. So I'm hard pressed to figure why this case is so much worse than any other cases.

Yes, upon occasion they've been known to break the law, too. However, that isn't the point. I haven't noticed that we have a policy of taking any children from anyone who is arrested or that we find has a criminal record. However, non-conforming cultures seem to experience prejudicial treatment by social services, not to mention all the fascinated on-lookers, eager to voice their opinion.

CPS takes children from child abusers. And there is no doubt that Madelyn Toogood abused her child; she's admitted to doing so.

Actually, that's not true; only some "abusers" have their children taken away. We are as even handed in those policies as we are in judging criminals. The vast majority of abusers, at the discretion of social services, get their children back after they jump through the right hoops. It just seems that folks here want to decide that some people aren't eligible to jump hoops. No bruises doesn't sound life threatening to me, which is the usual basis for removal from home situation.

"Rocket" Rosen, Madelyn Toogood's attorney, said that she is prepared to plead guilty to felony battery and throw herself on the mercy of the court.

Felony battery is grounds for removal from the home.

As I said, only when someone arbitrarily decides that it is grounds. other times apparently it is not grounds so we must wait and see if CPS likes her attitude enough to let her have her child back.

Yeah, but they get pretty, pretty sick if you beat them savagely. How come Martha got sick only AFTER she was separated from her family?

No dDoubt The State is poisening her Cheerios, the heartless bastards. First they take her from a loving mother who only beat the living crap out of her from the pure and wholly understandable frustration we all feel when the store won't give us a cash refund for the clothes we stole last week, and now they make her sick.

Damn, I bet Martha's mom could smack the sick out of her. You want we should find out?

You've been pretty damned twisted about this case all week. I just don't get it. As a father I've spanked my kids, but I never came close to the kind of assault every one but you seems to have witnessed. She's an unfit mother. Case closed. No, I don't need more evidence. I don't WANT more evidence, since more evidence could well be a dead kid. Would THAT satisfy you?

Do you have a video of your spanking exploits?

How comfortable would you be to have such a video examined by the millions of TV lookers and then listen to their view of your crimes?

There are a couple of very bright individuals posting on this and related threads who believe that Martha is dead. They demand that DNA samples are taken from the 'current' Martha and her parents so that 'we' would know for sure that what 'appears' to be Martha is indeed Martha.

No, I am saying what I am saying. And what I am saying is this:

Spanked (savagely beaten) Martha used to be in perfect health showing no scars or bruises or even 'psycho' problems. How do I know? It's the prosecutor who says so.

Then, Martha is taken away, for her own protection, and... Martha gets sick.

Can you even BEGIN to imagine the screaming, the agony and the unbelievable hysteria if a sick Martha was delivered to the authorities by her mother? Now, that the mother turned in a healthy daughter and she got sick while in state custody, no one seems to care less. Including the bleeding hearts out here.

They still care a lot about Martha's non-existent bruises, broken bones, missing limbs and altered psyche though.

Maybe they're not concerned because she has a cold. You ever have one of those? They leave no lasting psycological damage while savage beatings tend to do so.
