Martha Toogood Is Sick Now
Various | Sep. 25, 2002 | Self

Posted on 09/25/2002 12:05:15 PM PDT by A Vast RightWing Conspirator

Since the Martha Toogood's story is being dissected into the most minute details, here's one aspect not yet discussed:

- Martha gets a spanking from her mommy (some call it a savage beating). Whatever that was, it turns out that not one doctor, not even the prosecutor could find any sign of abuse such as bruises, cuts, broken bones, missing limbs or rigor mortis. In fact there are nude pictures apparently showing Martha as intact as ever.

- The state takes Martha under its own loving wing and... MARTHA IS SICK NOW!!! In fact, Martha is so sick, not even her mother can be allowed to see her.

Can anyone explain what's going on here? Is Martha better off with the authorities in charge? Or is she a victim of the authorities loving care. Perhaps too much love got Martha sick?

Her mother is a con artist, trying to get across on the American public the biggest con of her life.

DING DING DING...move to the head of the class.

The feller shows up on all the Toogood threads to defend her and her lifestyle, in spite of all the evidence of the kid having been hit by a closed fist, including the mother saying she did such, and the considerable information ( including this) posted on the travellers and their mores.

"there are no marks on this little girl and she wants her mom...the state should butt out..."

joesnuffy...

The fact that she wants her mom doesn't mean she should be with her mom. Children who are covered head to toe with bruises and welts inflicted by mom still cry for mommy.

Perhaps you can tell us how a mom beats her child and leaves no scars.

Happens all the time. Kids with broken bones (and no bruises) are brought into emergency rooms on a regular basis.

I haven't discovered a way yet.

You don't beat your kids, do you?

It is a free country, this means people are free to be different.

Are people free to scam their neighbors and defraud innocent elderly folks?

Do the Mennonites and Amish steal and commit criminal behavior?

Remember

It takes a village to raise a child

Some people here seem to have forgotten that.

Hey guy, it takes a day or so for some kids to show bruising. Others can show it right away. I've never seen a kid that didn't bruise from a real beating. I've never seen a kid whose bruises vanished in seven days.

I've done some work in ERs. I've seen children come in with compound fractures, without a single bruise. I'll guarantee you they had on the next day.

What do you think would happen to you if you attacked your neighobor's child in the same manner?

Do you think Mommy Dearest is less accountable because she "OWNS" Martha?

There no reasonable cause to justify the investigation that is now being conducted into the financial dealings of this mother. There is plenty of evidence to justify researching her past parental behavior.

Bruises heal faster in children than in adults. And I still haven't heard any serious evidence that this is the same child, like an explanation by law enforcement of how they confirmed that the child they have is same one seen in the video.

People often become dizzy and disoriented when punched in the head, which might explain the mild kicking. And kids who are beaten regularly learn to stifle natural instincts in order to avoid further beating -- this kid wasn't doing anything for at least a couple of minutes leading up to the beating; just imagine what the punishment for kicking mom would be!

Law enforcement ALWAYS keeps an eye on repeat criminals, because, after all, criminals commit crimes. And, this woman tried to return clothing for which, likely, she hadn't paid in the first place.

What "financial dealings"? That's a strange term for petty theft.

How do you know she wasn't sick before she was taken into foster care. When someone gets the flu, it usually starts with feeling a little under the weather (in the case of a small child, manifesting just as acting crankier than usual), then starts to seem like just a cold, and then progresses to flu. If she's got full-blown flu just a couple of days into foster care, she almost certainly had the beginnings of it beforehand -- maybe the result of weakened resistance from being dragged across several states over 8 days and getting little sleep, as her mother attempted to flee police.

As a child I wore long sleeve shirts and pants in the summer to hide the bruises and welts on my legs and arms.

And for me they took forever to go away.

Had I tried to run away or kick back I would have been beaten even harder.

This woman is dangerous. Take it from someone who knows.

It's not a tin foil hat question. I'm waiting for authorities to explain how they're sure it's the same kid. A poster on Lucianne yesterday said her son had been talking to a boy at high school, who was formerly with a Travellers group, and the first thing he said was "It's not the same kid; it's how they operate; the first thing they'd do would be to switch her for another kid". They're professional scam artists, and frequently escape prosecution and/or imprisonment by switching around the identities of adults and teens; why not the same strategy with a little kid?

I just remembered another thing. When my father grabbed me I froze. I could not move.

The fear gripped me. I knew it could get worse, all I had to do was get through the momement. Because if my actions caused a response, the whole thing could go on for days.

More than once it did.

I can't get worked up about "spy" cameras in public places. They prevent and solve a great deal of serious crime. Remember the lady in Texas a few weeks ago whose baby was snatched from her car in shopping center parking lot? The camera got good video of that, which helped in locating the child, and will help convict and put away the kidnapper.

I also can't get worked up about CPS custody in a case where a vicious beating was caught on camera and the beater admits to it. We ought to keep our attention focused on the CPS seizures of children based on nothing but an anonymous allegation -- there are plenty of those every day.

50% of all child abuse resulting in the death of a child occurs with the child in state custody/foster care

Yes, but since many state care placements are with relatives, I'd like to see a breakdown of how many of those deaths are at the hands of a relative -- especially since so many on this thread are suggesting that Martha ought to placed with relatives.
