Erskine Bowles campaigns for the U.S. Senate in North Carolina as a populist, a man with a "personal discomfort with politics." Even as he squares off against Elizabeth Dole this fall, Mr. Bowles maintains he "is not a politician," and only runs for office due to a philanthropic impulse he realized after September 11. The record, however, reveals Bill Clinton's former chief of staff as an entrenched and experienced politician with a penchant for Clintonite ethics.

Sounding more like Hillary Clinton than a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, Elizabeth Dole continued to actively promote a number of gun control proposals. Last week, during a candidate forum in New Hampshire, Dole made comments indicating that she supports bans on semi-automatic firearms, restrictions on ammunition, and government mandated trigger locks. This week, she went even further by attacking Right To Carry laws.In remarks prepared for a womens forum in D.C., on Tuesday, Dole stated "I think it's wrong to let people carry concealed weapons." She continued saying, "I believe Americans want their presidents to be inspiring, effective and confident...and determined to ensure the safety of our kids on the streets and in their schools -- even if it means having the guts to stand up to the gun lobby."
Please contact the Dole campaign to express your opposition to her misguided support for more Clinton-style gun control laws and to urge her to stop vilifying the NRA. You can reach the Dole campaign at:

I notice at her official web page her environmental stances are straight out of Clinton's playbook, while her "protecting family" positions are straight out of a conservative's playbook.
What is a NC voter to do? Which Liddy Dole will they get if they elect her, the conservative who wants to Permanently Repeal the Death Tax and stop penalizing marriage by Permanently Banning the Marriage Penalty Tax, or the socialist envirowhacko that wants to ban concealed carry, semi-autos and generally doesn't understand the Second Amendment?
I'm reminded of the choice conservatives have in MD between Connie Morona (Morella), a Socialist Republican, and the slate of Democrats. All from Monkey County who can't stop trying to out-do each other by seeing how far left they can move. There ain't much of a choice for those voters in Monkey County...and there ain't much choice for the NC voters...
It will be with utmost pleasure to witness his defeat to Dole. We WILL do our best to contribute to retaking the Senate with a large enough majority to embarass the Democratic Party and sideline any aspirations of another Jeffords defection.
abner ~~~ thought you might find this interesting.
