Which do you prefer, someone whom you know to be a liberal and a Socialist who freely acknowledges those leanings or someone who will smile at you, tell you how conservative they are until they get your vote and then vote liberal/Socialist?
One is an avowed socialist, the other a liar. I see no diference between the two as to character.
NC will get to vote in a liar who is no more conservative then McCain, Jeffords or Morrella merely because the Democrat is such a POS liberal and Dole has an "R" after her name which will hopefully return the Senate to the control of the Republicans.
Will they role back government largesse and corruption with their re-taking of the Senate - or will they use their majority to roll back Democraticly created largesse and corruption, replacing it with Republican-created largesse and corruption? Only time will tell.
However, if we Republicans continue to elect Morrella/McCain/Liddy Dole-style "conservatives" because that is the only R candidate we are presented with by the Party, we anti-corruption, anti-big government conservatives will have a harder time wresting control of the Party from the Socialist Lites. And the Republican Majority will still mean an infestation of Liberals in the Senate - only many of them will be masquerading as Republicans.
