Iraq would be on the point of making a "significant advertisement" with UNO (diplomats)
Monday September 16, 2002 - 19h10 GMT
BAGHDAD, 16 seven (AFP) - Iraq would be on the point of making a "significant advertisement" with UNO in the next hours, relating to the question of the return of the inspectors in disarmament, one learned Monday from Western diplomatic source in Baghdad.
The advertisement would be made "in a few hours" in New York by the head of the Iraqi diplomacy Naji Sabri, according to the diplomatic source which affirmed that the declaration "in the good direction" would defuse the crisis on the disarmament of Iraq.
The international community multiplied these last days the calls to Iraq so that it authorizes the return of the inspectors in disarmament of UNO in order to avoid an attack which the United States threatens to launch to reverse the Iraqi mode, marked to develop weapons of massive destruction.
Iraqi president Saddam Hussein chaired Monday a meeting common of the direction of the Baas party (to the capacity) and government and examined with high Iraqi persons in charge the American threats for a military offensive against the country, according to official agency INA.
The agency affirmed that the participants in the common meeting "discussed certain political questions of topicality", without more precision.
Saddam Hussein moreover examined Monday afternoon "a series of questions relating to the current political economic situation", during a second meeting in presence in particular of the number two Iraqi Ezzat Ibrahim, the vice-president Taha Yassine Ramadan, the Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Aziz and Latif Nassif Jassem, member of the Council of command of the révolutionla higher leading authority of the country), according to INA.

They'll agree to allow inspectors in...
As long as no Americans are part of the team.

PREDICTION: They will allow inspectors in -- but to stall. We'll get bogged down in delays. dread78645: "Nope. Bill Clinton ain't in charge any more."
Hehe. NUFF SAID!

We're at least all in agreement that it's a stalling tactic. There's some question as to whether it will work.
Bush has already said that he is committed to regime change. Not "regime change if inspectors aren't allowed in."
He means it. This won't slow down our preparations in the slightest. If anything, it will permit us to place spies in Baghdad.
Inspectors would be to our advantage.

Saddam will use the UN to stall until he has a nuclear missile targeted at Jerusalem. Tel-Aviv, actually. Jerusalem is very Islamic these days.

The international community multiplied these last days...Huh? Must have been a Viagra outbreak nine months ago.(/sarcasm) Who writes this stuff? Their grammar is horrible.

Say we DO go in and determine that there are no WOMM ( Weapons of Mass MURDER ),
so what ?
The regime is STILL going to help finance and train Al Quaida militants to fight exactly the kind of devastating campaign that they have thus far.
No, Saddam needs to die, just for starters.

Iraq to make a "significant announcement" to UN on weapons inspectors within a few hours"Scott Ritter is a tool. That is all."
To: HAL9000
My suspicion is that Iraq probably will announce a yom kippur 'preemptive' strike against Israel... or some other act of terror.
Sadaam is going to SAY I will allow it but with provisions.
Bush and SOME allies will say NO...
UN will decide to deliberate... AGAIN.
The usa will act, unilaterally if necessary and without congressional approval
IF we do poorly, daschle will say "I told you so..."
If we do well, daschle will say, "we already gave the president authorization to do whatever was necessary..." and take credit for that authorization.

Saddam will try to stall until after Nov elections in the US... its really his only and last chance Spot on. Saddam knows all too well who his friends are --- American Democrats. It's not lost on Saddam that the congression votes of the DimRats almost prevented us from engaging Iraq in "The Mother of all Battles" a decade ago.

I suggest we deploy one Daisy Cutter for every "Baby Milk Factory" in Iraq.
The whole thing just sounds so innocent.
