No "Lesser of Two Evils" Involved in THIS Race

Why This Campaign Is Important

This race is important primarily because no Democrat filed to run against the Republican incumbent, Tom Davis. The only candidates on the ballot are Davis, a four-term incumbent, chairman of the Republican National Congressional Campaign, and independent Frank Creel, a political newcomer.

Davis is usually described as a "moderate" Republican, a term used repeatedly by the media to describe Republicans who are not strongly against abortion. Creel, by contrast, is strongly pro-life, a staunch defender of the Second Amendment and advocate of limited government. He favors the elimination of the federal personal income tax.

Nobody will be surprised if Davis defeats Creel in November. In addition to incumbency and broad name recognition, Davis will probably outspend Creel ten to one. Life will go on, Democrats and Republicans will continue to scratch each other on the back and contentedly share power while the status quo goes its accustomed way—"slouching towards Gomorrah," as Robert Bork so quaintly put it a few years ago.

If Davis is upset, however, millions of people and thousands of surprised political analysts will be asking, "How did this happen?" The real pros will ask, "How did the chairman of the Republican National Congressional Campaign, whose main job is to get Republicans elected, himself get bushwhacked by a no-name opponent?"

Indeed, if Creel wins the election, how will it happen?

It will happen for the following reasons:

1. Voters, when they step into the booth, will NOT be faced with the old dilemma of having to choose between the lesser of two evils. Pro-life and pro-gun Republicans, in particular, will not have to ask themselves whether, if they vote their conscience, they will help install in office one of those horrible Democrats.
   
   
2. A broad-based coalition of constituencies—pro-lifers, Second Amendment defenders, anti-taxers, slow-growth advocates, right-to-workers, school choice proponents and Jeffersonians committed to the ideal of limited government—will be energized by the opportunity this race presents them: to leverage their issues dramatically upon the national stage.

A Creel victory in November, in short, will shock the political establishment and result in a great windfall of publicity for the organized constituencies that supported his candidacy and made his victory possible.

A Creel victory also means:

• The Republicans will have to find a new chair for their National Congressional Campaign
  
  
• The Republican Party will have to decide whether or not its professions of being the pro-life party can be taken seriously in the future
  
  
• If the Republicans decide against a firm return to pro-life and Second Amendment principle, they will find themselves battling with the Democrats for the same political turf, and they both will leave their flanks open to the emergence of a new independent coalition committed to the constituencies that elected Creel
  
  
• If the preceding occurs, either the Democrats or the Republicans will go the way of the Whigs within a decade.

Pray and work for a Creel victory on November 5th!

During the presidential election, my son said many acquaintances bragged about voting in Madison and their home state. Many said they voted multiple times in Madison.

In addition to voicing his displeasure to their faces, my son reported it to the District Attorney's office. The D.A.'s office refused to pursue the case.

Thanks for your good wishes. I see you are a realist, hoping for a "good showing", at least.
And the long-term benefits of a good showing should not be minimized. Everybody expects Davis to crush me overwhelmingly, and if the final count shows that I got within striking distance and might have won with halfway decent funding, that will set the stage for something better than a good showing the next time there is no Democrat in the race.
Anyone who thinks I am a good horse, however, better get their money down on this race. I will not be doing this again--unless I win and have a seat and a cause to defend.

I've tried to tell people for three years here at FR , that voting third party isn't a wasted vote , it's a vote for change.

But it appears people are afraid of change and don't really care if our government sells us into world slavery.

Evidently they see it as evolution. I don't think their grandchildren will see it that way........

Maelstrom, (Northern) Virginia's 11th District roughly includes all of Fairfax City, parts of Fairfax County and parts of Prince William County. Hope that helps.
