"If Republicans ever get really serious about politics, they can easily change the world!"
David Horowitz has a high opinion of conservatives as powerful people, saying that "Conservatives are intelligent, knowledgeable, compassonate, non-confrontational, and tolerant of other people's opinions."
But according to Horowitz, the tendency to be non-confrontational, and overly tolerant in the face of vicious attacks from the left, will leave Republicans defeated, if still "nice," on election days..(snip)

Maybe we need some radical moderates.

Exactly. The critics are active instantly with twisted and crooked reasoning. Actually they are masters of confusion. If, like Ann (hooray for her), we do not go over the top; we will be and are being ineffectual. The ole "Mr. Nice Guy" ploy that is not working.
The liberals fight according to "Everythings fair in love and war" (and politics). We seem to operate from "turn the other cheek". Politically it is suicide.

Yes, politicians, poets, and taxi drivers make their own rules and set up their own parameters. It always was and always will be that way.

"But according to Horowitz, the tendency to be non-confrontational, and overly tolerant in the face of vicious attacks from the left, will leave Republicans defeated, if still "nice," on election days." This advice reminded of those wonderful well dressed serious young men and women who banged on the doors at Florida's election official ballot counting offices.
I still believe if it weren't for those idealist young people in Florida and the freepers and other patriots who showed up outside of the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington and laughed at Jesse Jacksn et al (chanting:Jesse, get a job), we would be under the complete control of the socialists and the Democratic Party.
Would that we Pro-Lifers would take Horowitz's advice.
Evil exists when good men do nothing.

I've read Horowitz' book, and as I did I also thought of those classy "preppy" Republicans in Florida not allowing the Democrats get completely away with their fraud.
And I thought about the Freepers in DC chanting for Gore to get out of Dick Cheney's house. And all the other Freepers who've shared their experiences on the threads here.
It seems to me this is exactly the kind of thing Horowitz is talking about.

Hello, my friend, The gloves are off HERE also, in the pages of "to Restore Trust in America," which I co-wrote with John Young. (Got the first edition from the printer just 25 minutes ago.) And it's not just Republicans who have to get active and takie the gloves off. A third of all Americans are now "independents," because they cannot stand what they see happening in the two "major" parties, yet recognize that the third-party route is just an exercise in futility.
Millions of Americans are discouraged, and sitting on the sidelines right now. That has to change. EVERYBODY into the game, now. That's what it will take.

And I thought about the Freepers in DC chanting for Gore to get out of Dick Cheney's house.IIRC, Gore was quite traumatized by that. So sad.

Thanks Congressman Billybob,
Sounds like a really good book. I just bookmarked this thread and I will have to order a copy.
I really love first edition books the most.
Again Thanks for the links...

The dynamics of the news business is that they gravitate to action or disturbance. It's a given that "good news" never makes the paper. So in order to get the conservative message out, they'll have to resort to "tactics". It doesn't make you a bad person, it's just the way to get the message through the medium. You don't shirk from the job just because it's difficult.

It IS stellar! Absolutely true.

I agree. Bush set a good example by not being in the least cowed by the Dems during the Florida attempted hi-jack. He's certainly a fighter. We can be mean, when needed. The president can't, as YaYa says.

"Character" seems to be the key word. The left leadership doesn't often attract people with character, and too often, if they do, those people leave. Tammy Bruce, author of "The New Thought Police" was one. David Horowitz is another.
But you're right. Takes courage, too.

Thanks for those links. I'm always interested in books by conservatives.

Telling the truth about the damage the Democrats have done the poor and minority children in the inner cities....if the Republican leadership just started TALKING about that kind of thing it would be pretty newsworthy.

I can hardly wait. The people who want and need school choice are these very souls. Come on Conservative Republicans, "Let's roll!!"
