EVER SINCE the Florida recount decided the 2000 presidential election, George W. Bush has snubbed California, which failed to hand him its electoral votes.

All the more reason to lament that our governor isn't Bush's brother. If he were, imagine all the attention and money we might have received from the federal government.

Judging from his actions, it appears the president has written off the Golden State, convinced that he can win re-election without our electoral votes. Perhaps he's right. But someone should also remind the president that the last time we looked, California -- the fifth largest economy in the world - - still belongs to the United States.

Try acting it, for once.

CA, firmly and unalterably in control of liberal hands, wants to do things its own way. Then, when they get themselves in trouble with stupid and short-sighted laws and regulations, they blame it on others and go whining to D.C. for help.

Bush is just letting them bear the consequences of their stupidity. Some day, Californians might wake up and realize what a mess liberals have made of their state.

What's that sweet smell in the air? Ah, yes, the delectable odor of revenge.

Sure sucks to be you, SF Chronicle. Didn't complain about other states getting shortchanged while you were getting so much attention and federal funds during the Clinton years, though, did you?

Let's see here --

Which state was it that just recently passed a law that will have the effect of doing away with all SUV's?? Could it be.....hmmmm........CALIFORNIA?!

Is it possible for Fresno to secede from the Golden State and join the rest of the USA?

Consider, for example, what Dubya has lavished on Florida, another swing state...

Since when is CA another "swing state"? Unlike FL it is a Dem lock. Is the Chronicle suggesting CA become more Republican so as to be back in electoral play? It doesn't sound like it.

That's funny. I distinctly remember the President visiting there last summer, only to be publicly attacked by a vile, incompetent governor trying to blame his state's energy problems on the President of the United States. Sounds to me like CA has been snubbing the President.

Selective memories must come in very handy for writers.

Yes and it's too bad that we don't have a say in that.

Is Fresno in CA? I thought it was somewhere in the central valley. You know, where they have Velveta in the deli section.

But, back to the matter at hand. It is somewhat interesting out here by the beach that CA just keeps going along doing its own thing without much thought of back east. Oh, every now and then we're reminded, as in Boeing getting another order for C-17s at the Long Beach/Huntington Beach plants, or practically the entire Pacific Fleet in/around San Diego on certain days.

But other than that, the people keep coming, the construction crews keep building, SUVs still fly off the car lots, and no one really pays much attention about Davis.

That is, except for out-of-staters with nothing better to do that reveal their deep rooted envy to the entire FR community.

But someone forgot to mention that those funds come from taxpayers who live in other states, including California.

I guess he just doesn't see the irony of this statement.

The Bush administration also decided to transfer one of NASA's major space shuttle maintenance programs, along with hundreds of high - paying jobs, from California to Florida.

Well that should have been done long ago, and would have had it not been for Congressman Rohrabacher [I think it was], who blocked funds for the space station until congress agreed to perform OMDP in Palmdale for twice the cost of doing it in Florida.

Not only that, Rockwell hired a bunch of trash off the streets to perform the delicate work. When the Shuttles came back from a year at Palmdale, it always took months to repair all the damage they did.

There were always a minimum of 1,000 IPRs [Interim Problem Reports] on each orbiter when they came back.

Note to California: Pay attention you bunch of loonies. Vote for Bush in 2004 or we'll give you to Mexico.

To the San Francisco Chronical from a California resident who loves this state: Oh puhleeese spare me your giant whine. You sure as heck don't speak on this particular Californian's behalf.

The President has visited California several times since taking office. True, not as often as Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, Virigina, and some other states, but more often than many. Unlike his predecessor, who was in Washington only long enough to mess with the interns, this particular President is busy running the country. He's not on a 4-to-8-year frat party. In fact, President Bush is in Washington so much that the folks who maintain the White House have had to put off lots of routine maintenance for August when the president is based at his Texas ranch. In addition, the Vice President's been here, as have the First Lady, and several cabinet members.

Also spare me your bitch about California supposedly not getting "enough" Federal money. With our Gov and his Marxist buddies in the legislature spending state money like it's water, I'm kinda glad the Feds aren't shipping us even more money for Davis & Co. to play with.

As for your complaint about Homeland Security, with my own two beady eyes, I saw something that probably hasn't been seen in California waters since WWII: a U.S. warship standing picket duty off Redondo Beach! Yep, there it was on rotating duty. Bow standing out to sea, stern to shore, the USS Cleveland was anchored about 300 yards or so off Redondo Beach a couple of weeks ago. She had a rubber dingy deployed to run around her perimeter to protect against anyone getting too close. Between the Coast Guard, and the Navy ships out of San Diego and other bases standing picket duty at random locations, California's coast hasn't been this well protected in about 60 years! But hey, Chronicle editors, what's a little fibbing between Liberals, anyway?!!!!! Not a new thing for you folks, after all.
