BASSETT, Va. — Virginia police searched frantically Thursday for a 9-year-old girl who was nowhere to be found after her parents were discovered shot to death in the western part of the state.

Nobody knows where this child is. That's not normal," Henry County Sheriff's Capt. Kimmy Nester said. "The family is all in shock."

"Mr. Short said business was just slow," she said. "He said, 'I've got a trailer of my own and we're going to move and live in that for a while.'"

It's not normal to find parents shot either. I'll lay bets that if you find the shooter of the parents, you'll have a clue about the whereabouts of the child.

I drove many times thru that town last year..

The only thing that protrudes in my memory of Franklin County is that there is a lot of moonshine stills there....

Have had to criss-cross Virginia a lot this past summer for one reason or another and have heard many people talking about having family members move in with them because of hard times. All is not well in Virginia.

Praying for the quick return of the sweet nine-year old girl.

Isn't this the abduction that, when the Amber Alert went off, had TV stations reporting an "unspecified civil defense emergency?"

Can you imagine THAT coming on during the 6PM news sometime?
