I got a ticket for going five mph over once. And then another time, I was going 30 over, and the trooper said he would write me up for only 10 over to keep the points off my license. Both tickets came from a Kentucky State Police trooper (not the same one).

That is not how the people in our county are taking this story at all.

Maybe not in your county, and certainly not here in Freeperville, but it's obvious how this story would (or will) be treated by the mass media. How it will be packaged for national consumption.

The Constitution is not the problem...crazy people are the problem.

I know that, you know that......but the portrayal will be, "See! Conservatives advocate shooting patrolmen over speeding tickets. We keep telling you, the sheeple, that that Constitution is more trouble than its worth"

That is the message being sent.

Thats why we have to be quick to manage our end of the story - making nice with reporters, calling them with story tips, buying occasional meals, getting to know them.

We've not done that real well.....

How do you make nice with people who are bent on destroying you? Seriously, the only way to make nice with them is to become one of them.

Everything else falls short in their minds. There is nothing else to them.

"Instead of deflecting attention towards leftists, don't you think it is a good opportunity for Conservatives to look at ourselves and examine the fringe-nutty hangers on, who highjack the Constitution and Conservatism to try to further their own deformed agendas?"

Sure fine. So we examine the 'fringe-nutty hangers on' and then what? Denounce then? Ok, fine. I denounce the 'fringe-nutty hangers on'! The leftist have already succesfully hihjacked the Constitution, the jubiciary, and on and on. A few bone headed rightists ain't nothing to worry about.

Spare me. Real crimes are being committed all over the place while cops are pulling over speeders to generate revenue.

It may be a traffic violation, but hardly on par with crimes like burglary, rape and murder.

Actually, I was away from FR for a few days. I haven't seen this yet, until today.

The greatest question is, at what point will the American people say, enough is enough. We are now in the process of instituting programs that could never have come into being under Clinton. All have the same tag line, "in the name of homeland security". All in the name of the law. Where will we reach the turning point. Perhaps we all have our own individual breaking point.

Well, speeding up to a certain speed, isn't a "crime" at all, but an "infraction", at least in NC. I didn't mean to belabor the point. But they do serve a purpose. Think of the traffic fatalities if LEO's suddenly stopped pulling everybody over. Everybody's insurance skyrocket then. They may generate revenue, but that doesn't detract from their purpose of public safety.

That being said, I really have no interest in debating traffic laws anyway--at least not today; my heart's not in it. If you want me to say you're right, then "you're right" and let's be done with it. :-)

If people have other agendas for FR, I really wish they would take them elsewhere.

Maybe he means "other agendas" like lionizing nutbag cop killers simply because the nutbag in question claimed to be a Constitutionalist and a patriot, eh?

I know! Why don't we ASK him what he meant by "other agendas"?? It's so easy. I'm just gonna type "Jim Robinson" up there in that reply box...there! And then I'm going to hit Post...whee, that was simple.

Hah! That's rich. "Personal attacks and insults" are your first and last names and inflicting pain is your game. Abuse reports from people with unclean hands are not taken seriously. If you want to be taken seriously on this forum you might think about cleaning up your act.

JuWanna Taylor, widow of slain Massillon Patrolman Eric B. Taylor, says she has tried to keep their daughter and son on as regular a schedule as possible since their father was shot and killed Friday [August 9, 2002].

" A few bone headed rightists ain't nothing to worry about. "

They were in 1993 following OKC. It gave the then-resident of the White House and his ghoulish spouse ample ammunition in which to label and attack conservatism. With the increasingly threatening overtone of Constitutional rhetoric (Guess it's time to feed the Tree of Liberty with some more blood, those jackboots have their day coming and it's not far off, etc.), it gives the liberals even more cause and support to instute and empower the same 'nazi' and 'unconstitutional' acts the Constitutionists are whining over.

Unless that's what they really want - to goad the US government into a civil war.

I don't want you to say I'm right at all. I agree they serve a purpose and that they are needed but I think that for the most part these days cops are sitting by the side of the road generating revenue while babies are being stolen from minivans.

We need them to be catching criminals and thwarting crimes. Today the local departments won't even grab illegal aliens since there's no money in it for them. Put a bounty on the number of illegals that local police departments round up and just watch what happens. It's all about the $.

Again, let me say that I don't advocate shooting cops over traffic stops. Me thinks this guy knew he was gonna get busted for the gun he never had taken away but was in his car and decided to try and prevent that.
