The anti-FReepers are on the prowl. As most of you know, there is a group of ex-FReepers who have been dogging us for the last several years. The anti-FReeper community was started several years ago by a group of disgruntled individuals who were banned from FR and then wanted to get back at us by damaging our reputation. This started out as petty name calling and rumor mongering, but they now appear determined to cause us as much harm as possible. Even to the point of attempting to get FR and FRN shut down and the owners and managers of the organizations bankrupted or jailed.
Some of the early members of the group include ex-FReepers Mojo, Aligyrl, Landshark, Z2, Headhunter, LindaM, and others who have come and gone over the years. The most recent additions to active anti-FReeping appear to be ex-FReepers Clarity, Clinton's a Liar and JoeEveryman.
There appears to be a certain love/hate relationship involved here. Some of these people hate FR and its PTB (that's "Powers That Be" in their lingo) with such passion that they cannot stay away. Some of the original members of the AF community have given up and drifted off, some have come back to FR, and some are as determined as ever to kill FR and have me and whomever else they can thrown into prison for whatever crimes they imagine us guilty. Their motivation is pure revenge. Their driving force is hatred.
Their current attack is centered around an attempt to break up the Free Republic Network and, through that angle, to cause as much damage to FR as possible. Unfortunately for all of us, there is a genuine problem with the ex-leader of the South Carolina Chapter. Apparently, there was some money collected for events that was never paid over to the vendors and the chapter leader is accused of taking off with the money. I am not going into all of the gory details here, but I understand that there is an official police investigation ongoing and the SC Chapter and the FRN are cooperating fully with the authorities. The anti-FReepers, led by JoeEveryman, are trying to gain maximum leverage from any fallout from this case and are attempting to use it to bring down FRN.
JoeEveryman ran an FR thread (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/728856/posts) last week on this subject. I eventually deleted it because it was turning into an anti-FReeper haven and I do not want that on FR. The anti-FReepers have plenty of their own websites to conduct their hate campaign. Those who are interested may find JoeEveryman (posting as "Panjandrum") on the LibertyPost.org forum, now appearing to be the latest home of the anti-FReeper community. I have undeleted the JoeEveryman thread for those who are interested in reading it, but have left it locked. I do not want any more anti-FReeping activity on FR.
JoeEveryman is now banned from Free Republic. It is clear on the thead that he ran here on FR and on this (http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readarticle.cgi?114+1485+0+1) thread on LibertyPost.org that his intent is to bring FR down and to cause us as many legal problems as he can. I cannot see allowing him to do this on my own website.
It appears to me that they are either preparing some sort of lawsuit and or are trying to entangle me, Bob J, FR and FRN into the SC case. None of us had anything to do with whatever wrongdoing may have taken place in SC. The South Carolina Chapter is an independent entity, as are all of the FR chapters, and neither FR nor FRN have any ownership or control over their activities. It appears that the anti-FReepers are trying to break that down. We'll see. FRN is cooperating fully with the authorities and I will too if they ask.
In the meantime, I do not want them scheming on FR so they are banned and will remain banned. I will also ban any other FR members who get actively engaged in this attempt to bring down FR.
A request to all. Please do not drag any of the anti-FReeper stuff to FR. I do not want it here.
Free Republic has withstood many attacks over the years, from both the left and the right and I am confident that we will survive this attack from this Free Republic Haters Association as well.

I've never even *thought* of socializing with anyone on here; it's just a place to obtain information and exchange ideas. Now I'm *dumbfounded* at the byzantine sociopolitical undercurrents of which I've become aware as a result of this post and your previous one in the same vein...
This is the second time, recently, that I've realized what a blessing is my nearly complete alienation from humanity... (the first was upon seeing what happened to a friend when she divorced, and had to deal with a circle of friends and their mixed loyalty to her and her "ex").

And your evidence that she "was on the FR Network Board of Directors" is ...? That she had access to the FRN BOD bulletin board??? Even for a crummy sh thouse lawyer such as yourself, that is pretty flimsy. It would only be inculpatory if access to the FRN BOD constituted prima facie evidence that a subject was a BOD member. But several others -- whom I'm sure you know well -- were also given access to that bulletin board, and they were not members of the Board. So that cannot be the proof you're looking for.
I've been a member of the Board since its inception, and, while Julie had the confidence of many of us, she never handled Network funds, nor was she placed in her position in South Carolina by the Network. So I'm not sure how badly her mere presence reflects on the Network.
The crimes were committed against the South Carolina chapter, as hard-working and dedicated a bunch of FReepers as any in this domain. It is a tragedy, which we on the Network are working hard to help resolve. In the end, Free Republic, the Network, South Carolina, and our cause will survive, and be stronger for the effort.

We have here a discussion similar to that of the beginnings of human life. Does it begin at conception or does it begin when the umbilical is cut?
FRN was a long time...... in excess of 1 year perhaps in excess of 2 years, in gestation. While in the womb, there were signs of life noticeable on an ultra scan and out side the womb there were discussions and actions underway to provide a loving home for the newborn.
The FRN was born when the legal formalities involving the government entities declared FRN was alive. Prior to that time it was a hope. A gleam, if you will, in the parents eye.
If she is the same person I spoke with at the MFJ, that is not true.

When I was in basic training, there was a fellow recruit named Newby. After I'd been there a while, I started hearing the term 'newbie', which was a new term to me and I couldn't figure out why everyone kept talking about Newby with such derision (I'm a little slow sometimes).

I'm one of those oldtimers on FR and I've seen folks come and go. I've never understood why bannees continue to come back and do the same stuff over and over again.

Getting in bed with them? No thanks. I have never been anything but honest about my misgivings about this place...and I have also been in the position where I have had to defend things here. I like to beleive that I am independant about these things and base my opinions on reason and logic.

I was banned for having it out with a moderator. Regarding my new screen name...I reregistered with the intent of staying in touch with freepers whom I still like and respect. I really didn't plan on posting again until Jim took what I considered an unfair shot at a competing forum. Jim is well aware of this screen name...and if he wishes to ban me, that would be fine.
I don't want to bring harm to the forum...what I do want to see though is a little more upfrontness about what is going on with the forum. I don't care about the personaility conflicts that go on in your back rooms (eg. Bobj/Cal), but it does bother me that it took a blow up between these 2 folks for it to be revealed to the forum that there was a huge loss on the innagural ball and that the freepers who didn't attend were paying for it. That is something that needs to be brought up...so those that commit errors or fleecing will be les inclined to do so in the future.

Like I said before...if Jim wants to ban this name, I would totally understand. It's his site, etc, etc. However, there are people attached to this site and to him that I care about and I would hate to see them dragged through the mud because of a general lack of disclosure.

Application of a little common sense will make the meaning of that statement more clear, if you care to demonstrate any.

Would reading that give you the impression that I'm saying only two candidates are running? Or had all that slipped your memory? Whether you think so or not, I AM supporting Jim Snyder and working as hard as my career allows to support the man.
BTW, of those two examples of criticism you gave, I totally agree with your view.

Can you explain how you conclude that, or is that another knee-jerk yank? I believe I was as clear as is possible in my reasoning that voting for one who knowingly lies of their involvement constitutes grounds for losing hope that any better should be expected should the candidate reach office. And this party, which boasts of conservative, moral honesty, cannot simply turn a blind eye to lying without requiring any accountability and continue that boast without serious compromise, IMHO. Neither can the serious issues facing our leaders be confidently borne by one who will not debate, but uses any excuse to avoid scrutiny altogether. North Carolinians are known to face problems squarely and deal with them appropriately.....

While I believe that full disclosure is important, there is a time and a place for it. The investigation of this matter has taken priority so no information was disclosed to the public.
There are people who have taken advantage of this situation: on the one hand, complaining that there should immediately be public accountings of who what why and where, while at the same time making references to lawsuits and their intentions to implicate innocent people in this career criminal's enterprises against Free Republic. Well, these kinds of ominous threats do not lend themselves to a climate in which I personally would be interested in making any statement of any kind that could be used in a harrassment lawsuit: we have received information that is the plan.
