JoeEveryman and the Anti-FReeper Attack on Free Republic
Various Anti-FReeper sites | August 10, 2002 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 08/10/2002 1:29:46 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

The anti-FReepers are on the prowl. As most of you know, there is a group of ex-FReepers who have been dogging us for the last several years. The anti-FReeper community was started several years ago by a group of disgruntled individuals who were banned from FR and then wanted to get back at us by damaging our reputation. This started out as petty name calling and rumor mongering, but they now appear determined to cause us as much harm as possible. Even to the point of attempting to get FR and FRN shut down and the owners and managers of the organizations bankrupted or jailed.

Some of the early members of the group include ex-FReepers Mojo, Aligyrl, Landshark, Z2, Headhunter, LindaM, and others who have come and gone over the years. The most recent additions to active anti-FReeping appear to be ex-FReepers Clarity, Clinton's a Liar and JoeEveryman.

There appears to be a certain love/hate relationship involved here. Some of these people hate FR and its PTB (that's "Powers That Be" in their lingo) with such passion that they cannot stay away. Some of the original members of the AF community have given up and drifted off, some have come back to FR, and some are as determined as ever to kill FR and have me and whomever else they can thrown into prison for whatever crimes they imagine us guilty. Their motivation is pure revenge. Their driving force is hatred.

Their current attack is centered around an attempt to break up the Free Republic Network and, through that angle, to cause as much damage to FR as possible. Unfortunately for all of us, there is a genuine problem with the ex-leader of the South Carolina Chapter. Apparently, there was some money collected for events that was never paid over to the vendors and the chapter leader is accused of taking off with the money. I am not going into all of the gory details here, but I understand that there is an official police investigation ongoing and the SC Chapter and the FRN are cooperating fully with the authorities. The anti-FReepers, led by JoeEveryman, are trying to gain maximum leverage from any fallout from this case and are attempting to use it to bring down FRN.

JoeEveryman ran an FR thread (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/728856/posts) last week on this subject. I eventually deleted it because it was turning into an anti-FReeper haven and I do not want that on FR. The anti-FReepers have plenty of their own websites to conduct their hate campaign. Those who are interested may find JoeEveryman (posting as "Panjandrum") on the LibertyPost.org forum, now appearing to be the latest home of the anti-FReeper community. I have undeleted the JoeEveryman thread for those who are interested in reading it, but have left it locked. I do not want any more anti-FReeping activity on FR.

JoeEveryman is now banned from Free Republic. It is clear on the thead that he ran here on FR and on this (http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readarticle.cgi?114+1485+0+1) thread on LibertyPost.org that his intent is to bring FR down and to cause us as many legal problems as he can. I cannot see allowing him to do this on my own website.

It appears to me that they are either preparing some sort of lawsuit and or are trying to entangle me, Bob J, FR and FRN into the SC case. None of us had anything to do with whatever wrongdoing may have taken place in SC. The South Carolina Chapter is an independent entity, as are all of the FR chapters, and neither FR nor FRN have any ownership or control over their activities. It appears that the anti-FReepers are trying to break that down. We'll see. FRN is cooperating fully with the authorities and I will too if they ask.

In the meantime, I do not want them scheming on FR so they are banned and will remain banned. I will also ban any other FR members who get actively engaged in this attempt to bring down FR.

A request to all. Please do not drag any of the anti-FReeper stuff to FR. I do not want it here.

Free Republic has withstood many attacks over the years, from both the left and the right and I am confident that we will survive this attack from this Free Republic Haters Association as well.

Thanks for your continued support.

Jim

When did we turn into a democracy? I could have sworn we are a Republic.

Of course the people are the best remedy for the sickness that is rampant in this country. But Alrea, you have to make them care and I'm beginning to believe that only another tragic event and another and another will bring them to their senses and maybe not even then. "Someone else will take care of it for me."

To many people are willing to only sit on their behinds and do nothing but watch tv. They could care less about their country until something happens. Someone, I think it was Kruschev, made the comment that "we would not have to take America with Guns, but from within, the people would do it for us." I don't have the exact phrase, I know, it's close though and it is exactly what we are doing.

No one votes 'cause they think either their vote doesn't count or that someone else vote will cancel mine, so why vote.

We show apathy in everything we do - "someone else will do it." That is what has become the America way whether at home, in the community or national - the majority of Americans are just lazy about their responsibility of the government of the respective states and also of the federal government.

>> Hold it there a moment, Bud. When a person chooses to not follow Republican "doctrine" lockstep, but sees the Republican platform as more closely fitting their beliefs, that does NOT make them a liberal. <<

Well, you have a point there. Of course I was refering to folks who also despise the Republican PLATFORM. There are a bunch of freepers who have made it clear they despise EVERYTHING the Republican party platform stands for, and they despise many of it's stauchly conservative candidates, from Bob Barr to Jesse Helms to Phil Crane.

>> There are actions that are taken by the national Republican leadership - none excluded, that does not sit well with all party members. <<

Well, that's obvious. I'm a party member and SOME of their decisions don't sit well with me.

>> Open, constructive criticism certainly helps keep our party focused upon the more immediate issues << <<

I agree. Notice the phrase "open, constructive critism". Now, can you tell me which the following statements would fit that catergory:

1) "Bush's decision to support amnesty for illegal aliens is an extremely stupid plan that will alienate his base and turns his back on the party's decades-old committment to soveignity of our borders. I suggest we all call the white house and tell Bush not to abandon his base "

2) "Bush is a retard cokehead with an NWO fascist globalist who is a tool for BIG OIL and Ashcroft and Cheney are running the White House for the corporations that HATE America! I wouldn't trust DUMBYA to shine my shoes!!! Any SMART Republican, which is MOST of you guys, realizes that even GORE is more conservative than Shurb! Since the GOP is run by BUSHIES, I WILL VOTE GORE IN 2004!!! YOU SHOULD TOO!!!"

I have no problem with the first post. The second post (which occurs on FR all too often) seems to be by individuals that are either truly deranged "conservatives" or liberal disruptors.

>> look at the prominient R. leaders endorsing [Dole] while disregarding the other, more honest Republican candidates. She BLATANTLY LIES of her involvement with N.C., won't debate nor associate with the other respectable N.C. candidates of the party and we're asked to vote for HER? I won't. <<

If you REALLY support the Republican platform, then you'd be working your butt off to counter that and campaign for a REAL Republican who will impliment that platform. I make no bones about my support for JIM PARKER. Of course, a "conservative" like yourself seems to PERFER that a liberal would win. Hmmm...

Shame on a party that condemned < cough > Clinton for lying of her N.Y. status and expects North Carolinians to endorse the same. <<

Were the Clintons BORN in N.Y.? No. Hillary Clinton was born in Illinois and a lot of people where encourging her to run HERE instead of New York (she didn't because Senator Fitzgerald would kick her butt in the election), so I fail to see the analogy. Funny how all the southerners screaming about "yankee transplants" had no problem voting for that long-time Illinoian who moved to California, Ronald Reagan.

On the other hand, I DO see a problem in Liddy's background (not because of her location) but due to the fact she's not a REAL Republican. She grew up a hard-core Lyndon Johnson Democrat and simply "joined" the GOP because she married one. She didn't change any of her views. Sounds sort of like the Dixiecrats on his forum (George Wallace Democrats) who CLAIM to be Republicans but are always attacking the party for--gasp!-- fighting for civil rights and defeating a bunch of racist (who they laughingly call "conservative") Democrats like Sam Ervin

>> I won't be endorsing Dole, the lie for Senate - and it doesn't matter who calls me what. So if Dole is ONE OF ONLY TWO CHOICES, the other has my support and vote. Let's see here:

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES FILING IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION:

Ven Challa (R) - Physician & Medical School Professor
Tim Cook (R) - Biologist & Chemist
Elizabeth Dole (R) - Ex-US Labor Secretary & Ex-American Red Cross President
Ada Fisher (R) - Rowan School Board Member, Retired Physician & Educator
Jim Parker (R) - Physician & Ex-Army Officer
Douglas Sellers (R) - Insurance Agency Owner
Jim Snyder (R) - Attorney & Author

THIRD PARTY CANDIDATES FILING FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION:

Sean Haugh (Libertarian) - State LP Executive Director & '00 State Sen. Nominee
Norio Kushi (Natural Law) - Businessman & NLP Activist

Seven choices in the primary and AT LEAST four in the general (assuming no Independants file). Sounds like far more than two to me. You accuse the NC GOP of lying about opposition to Dole in the primary and then YOU blanantly lie about opposition to her in the GENERAL. EITHER one of third party candidates would be more conservative than the Democrat. Yet a "conservative" like you is on record to vote for the MOST liberal candidate.

>> I will not knowing endorse a lie for any reason. <<

Neither will I. Your actions and your beliefs make it clear you have no interest in promoting "conservative" candidates. I'm guessing you are a Dixiecrat who misses the ol' "solid south" and is living in an 1860 timewarp where the Democrat Party still runs a bunch "conservative" candidates.

And yes, YOU are what's wrong with this forum. I hope the Republicans in NC can get off their butts for Synder to couter all the blue-dog Dumbocrats that they are overrun with.

As hall monitor, are you going to spank the tardies, runners, and generally slovenlies?

And while you are at it, make those who shouldn't wear low rider jeans (those displaying too much ass-inine) change clothes.

MM: Thanks for the ping. Everyone needs to know what is happening.

JimRob....so glad you posted this for all to read. The activities of these former Freepers is most disturbing! I can't understand why they now hate FR & JR.....our common enemy is the liberal lefty RATs & their cohorts in the media.....why do these anti-freepers waste their energy & time trying to take down FR?

Perhaps the answer is EGOtism out of control????? Or desire to CONTROL ....whatever it is....it is a darn shame that it continues!

Thank you Jim, for allowing us this place to gather and see what we can do about setting our country back onto a conservative path.

It always helps to know who is out there trying to damage people who are doing the good work. Although I am sorry to see certain names added to the list.

I don't understand AFers, it would seem to me that they spend way to much time worrying about what FReepers are doing and growing, and not enough time tending to their own gardens. (It comes down to reaping what you sow.)

Oh well, if they are mad at FR/FRN then we must be doing something right. Keep up the good job and know that you are appreciated.

They are sick people so you never know, with sick people like the anti's I wouldn't put anything pass them.

I've had some fairly sickening exchanges with people still on this forum. I don't think you can make an us/them generalization with Freepers being completely untainted...I absolutely agree that over time poor impulse control will weed out the disturbed types from the mainstream...Hearty Rule enforcement that is clearly supported with feedback is a great way to do that. I just hope that rational criticism is given as FRee a reign as possible...I LOVE debating! I'd hate to come to FR and not see any hard journalism disclosing facts that I found deeply disturbing...I might as well watch Baba WAWA!!!

Well, as a fellow old timer, I'm glad to see y'all back. Bygones, etc., etc. I'm MORE than ready to see more of the old crowd 'round these parts. :)

Ditto!

I still can't believe that Clinton's a Liar and Clarity, of all people, left us and JimRob to be AF's? Just doesn't compute!

It's over and done. We settled. Five thousand dollars each to the LAT and WP (that's $10,000 total) and we agreed to continue excerpting and linking from their publications. That's it. No appeals. No Supremes. Links to the settlement details and final court docs are on our front page. Fahey's article (as usual) is full of the same stuff his brains are made of. It happens.

A very smart move to ban the guy post haste. I do my own thing here because then I don't have to check with anyone, etc. The Chapter stuff is a layer that I really don't pay much attention to.

We should remember that JimRob has at least 100K witnesses with character and integrity, contrary to this rogue guy who took matters into his own hands.

Remember our Governor Bush disavowed himself from that Miami group? Disavowing puts legal distance between the parties. And, I'm prepared to get on the witness stand wherever and whenever as to our integrity.

For the time being, I will operate as a sole Freeprietor except for my ping lists. We have work to do for 2004. FV
