I say he should..
Bill 'O is making a fortune, Rush Limbaugh is making a fortune.. The Conservative ideal sells, it's worth something and when given a chance we dominate in every way, shape and form..
So, what's so different about FR? Why should FR be exempt from these rewards?

Yes, Jim should make a profit from this site.

My answer is a resounding YES! He provides a marvelous and excellent service and deserves being rewarded for it. Why in the world should he work for free? My guess is that YOU don't show up for work gratis. I wish you would stop asking this silly and irrelevant question.

Success should be rewarded. Making a profit and getting rich are not the same thing.
I'm a conservative Republican who supports business, not a DemocRat socialist whiner.

Of course he should. And I hope he makes a ton of it.

I think the better question would be ... CAN he make money from FR?
To: Jhoffa_
Yes, let him make a pile. I'll help him by donating.
To: Jhoffa_
I know of no true conservative that would deny anyone the opportunity to make money. If something sells, you have the right to make money off it.
FR is a service that many find enjoyable. Whether J. Robinson gets the money through "donations" or by selling the service is really irrelevant to me. (In other words, I think it's safe to say that if the Washington Post, LA Times and all those other rags would let him alone, I think FR would've gone "commercial" a long time ago, so the "donations" aren't really donations at all. They're people with consciences who use this site a good deal of the time, who are "paying" for the service.)
This is my answer to the poll question.

Jim has given us a wonderful vehicle. And I know this costs a lot of money! Look at EBAY!
I am very willing to donate when I can to keep this wonderful forum alive. And if the donations go up and above what it costs to run this server, then Jim should have the rest. After all, this WAS his idea!
YOU GO, JIM! WE LOVE YOU!

Sure he should make money off it.
But you couldn't pay me enough to put up with some of the shenanigans that go on here. :-)
To: Jhoffa_
Yes. But will it still be FREE Repbublic?
To: Jhoffa_
Yes, most definitely.
To: Jhoffa_
Should Jim Robinson make money from FR?If at all possible, of course he should.
FWIW That's a rhetorical question.

I don't pay, and will never pay toward this site, unless it becomes a "members-only" site. Expecting people to pay based on "goodwill" is laughable.
If this site stays, I'll stay. If this site shuts down, I'll just move on.
