I am sick of the whining about FR's finances.
Free Republic has become the Rush Limbaugh of the internet and all this complaining about who is doing what and profiting thus is making me Ill. It's a circular argument and I am tired of it.
Real Conservatives reward success. We honor it.
As a final end to this:
Would you oppose or favor Mr. Robinson making a profit from FR.
I was under the impression that they had to be non-profit due to copyright restrictions on reproduced (ie posted) works.
BTW, I've been here longer than you so what I say goes!!!
But you couldn't pay me enough to put up with some of the shenanigans that go on here. :-)
If they're making those salaries as heads of "non-profits", then JR certainly deserves one.
BTW, I've been here longer than you so what I say goes!!!
That's true. So I will accede to your wishes! :)
I wouldn't bet very much money on that. Depends on the model he would go with.
Maybe something like - Lurkers get in free, to post replys is a minimul fee, to post articles is a more substantial fee.
Not the perfect idea but you get the general drift.
And when I say substantial I mean maybe $5 to $10 dollars a month.
If at all possible, of course he should.
FWIW That's a rhetorical question.
Well, that's true, but on the other hand it is (at a minimum) unseemly to start a non-profit and make yourself the directory/President/CEO with a big salary. Plenty of people hide behind the non-profit status and make a bundle of money. I am not saying that Jim Robinson is a crook (and I don't think he is paying himself a big salary), but going for-profit might passify some people. Again, I personally don't give a hoot how he does it or how he pays himself with the money I contribute.
Honestly, I find the term "non-profit" mildly distasteful, b/c it is almost always some goody two shoes liberal group (ie pig-faced marxist) that thinks we (you and me and everyone else working in jobs where we are held accountable) are evil if we don't donate to their cause.
BTW - I thank my lucky stars I don't work for an employer who browbeats everyone into donating to the United Way or some other mega-charity.
Many moons ago (okay a few years ago), I dated a young lady who didn't want to work for anything other than a non-profit, as if they were somehow more nobler than, well, my job. She ended up working for one of the largest lobbying firms on Capital Hill(ie, largest in the known multiverse). Like, yeah, they are really doing things for the little guy. She just wanted to be near the power players. In 2000, after I predicted that our favorite Senator's name was being dropped as vp candidate in order to get it out there for 2004, she suddenly started talking about how she wanted to go work for him. She was just your typical One-World, UN-loving, Hillary-worshipping leftist ... but, I'd hate to have this degenerate into an Ex-Girlfriend Bashing Party.
The answer recieved was alway's the exact same , " None of your damn business " . It is still the best answer for people with no manners . If Jim and the family can look in the mirror everyday , more power to them .
I have no doubt at all towards the ethics and it never occured to me or the wife to question .. GOP sheeple I guess ;)
Howlin : ROFLOL !
There is a dirty little secret hidden in here somewhere, but, again, I digress...
When you "grow up," you quickly find that "None of your damn business" and "Because I said so" are two of the BEST answers given to parents in the war with the kids.
