I am sick of the whining about FR's finances.

Free Republic has become the Rush Limbaugh of the internet and all this complaining about who is doing what and profiting thus is making me Ill. It's a circular argument and I am tired of it.

Real Conservatives reward success. We honor it.

As a final end to this:

Would you oppose or favor Mr. Robinson making a profit from FR.

I agree Howlin, this was the first place I truly felt comfortable talking about conservative politics, ideas, sharing articles, etc. Without FR I would be out there doing a lot of research that is already here. YES, Jim should make a profit and a good one. This is the best and easiest thread to read, I love the layout and everything about it.

Jim should make a good profit, this is his idea, it is very successful, we did a lot of stuff that none of us could have done on our own. He brought conservatives together at the best possible time and if you remember during the 2000 election in FLA - all those protesters, marches all over the country and the best of Fox News saying "who are those Republicans, Republicans never fight back." This is what Jim did for all of us. MANY THANKS JIM.

And I'll use this space to say what I have said before -- and I'm not lecturing anybody -- but I hope everybody realizes that there are some people who cannot give as much as they would like; we need to all keep this in mind when we make our donations each time. Agree in principle - but I'm not a freeloader and already contribute to the maintenance of this site. I sometimes feel like I'm subsidizing a$$holes at times, especially when a poster is taking advantage of their freedom of speech and INSULT (not just disagree) other Freepers, which is one of my pet peeves! My only concern is it would dilute the posters contributing. That would be a big sacrifice - even if some of them are in my humble opinion the biggest jerks on earth!

Jim is a dedicated man, who with his family works hard to keep this site up and running. It ain't easy and it's expensive. They've done a damn fine job. Of course he should make money. That's the American way!

Jim Robinson provides us with a service. He could charge us to come here but he's chosen a different way to raise funds.

I think he should--he is working at keeping this forum up and running for us--it's his job--it's what he does!!!
