A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

When Jim Robinson's name was mentioned for the FReeper of the Day, all of us wanted to be the one to feature him! However, instead of flipping a coin or fighting it out to see who won :), St.Louie suggested that JustAmy probably knew him better and longer than the rest of us, so why not ask her to write his tribute? Seemed like a great idea, and when Amy agreed, another thought came to mind:
We could all work on this one! Louie had already created that wonderful graphic of Jim and Sheila above; Amy would write the main thread, MamaBear and daisyscarlett could each say a few words, and I would put it all together. YES! We had a plan! Here, then, is the result of our tribute to the man who is FReeRepublic, and the wonderful woman behind him.
Jim is not just a Vietnam Vet in a wheelchair. Neither is he just the founder of FreeRepublic. Jim is a man with strong beliefs and a deep love of his God, his family and his country.
Jim will take to the air or to the road to show his dedication to his beliefs. After making 3 trips to DC (March for Justice, Judgment Day and House Managers Tribute Rally and Dinner), he eagerly attended the Freeper's Inaugural Ball. This Ball was possible, in part, to Jim's and FreeRepublic's 'SoreLoserman' Rallies and dedication to removing all signs of Clinton/Gore.
What's next on the agenda? How about Scumbag, Gary Condidit? Jim spent many Saturday's driving 4 hours to Modesto where he could join the Modesto Freepers for 2 hours in calling for Condit's removal from office.
Since 9-11-2001, Jim and his family can be found every Friday night at the corner of Shaw and Blackstone (Patriots Corner) counter-protesting the war protesters and showing his support for President Bush's war on terrorism and his support for our military.
Although Sheila does not always agree with his political views, they share their belief in God and their love of family and country. You will find her at his side Friday evenings for The Support Our Troops Rallies. She may entertain with her rendition of "We don't smoke marijuana at Shaw and Blackstone."
It is impossible to spotlight Jim and Sheila without acknowledging Chris, pictured at right. He not only makes sure they get where they need to be, whether it be Washington, DC or Patriots Corner. He gladly picks up a sign of support and carries the flag as he keeps the boom box volume turned high.

What can I say about Jim Robinson that has not been said many times over? While I was pondering this question, it occurred to me how different my life would be without this wonderful website. Jim Robinson's FreeRepublic is my home on the internet. Actually, it is Jim's home on the internet and he has opened it up to all of us.
This is where I come to meet like-minded people who share my values, my love for God and country and my fears for her future. Here we can link arms and hearts in supporting our conservative causes while making life-long FRiendships, and having fun all at the same time! I have never met a finer group of people and it is because of Jim that we have this place to gather.
In short, Jim's dedication to his country, to his conservative values and to this website is inspiring. I believe I am a better person for knowing him and the many fine patriots who frequent this site. No, I cannot imagine my life without FreeRepublic. Thank you and God bless you, Jim.
~ Mama_Bear
I still get chills when I see the above photo of you leading the March for Justice in Washington D.C. in 1998 calling for the impeachment of President William Jefferson Clinton. I do not know what I can add to all of the nice things that have been said about you, and certainly will be said about you again today, except that I agree with all of them. We can never thank you enough for FREE REPUBLIC. God Bless you Jim Robinson.
~ daisyscarlett
In closing, I want to add only my thanks, once again, for your vision, Jim, in creating the greatest conservative site on the net. And Amy has asked me to remind everybody that she will be posting many more photos from the family album throughout the day! So let this be the last thread all of you check before turning off your pc tonight!

Congratulations and my most sincere thank you for what you have created and are maintaining here. What a wonderful idea you had!!!
THINGS PARENTS LEARN..
People who say they 'sleep like a baby' obviously haven't got one.
An unbreakable toy is useful for breaking other toys.
There are three ways to get things done: Do it yourself, hire someone to do it, or forbid your kids to do it!
You can learn many things from children. Like how much patience you have.
A boy becomes a man when the marks he wants to leave on the world have nothing to do with tires.
A baby usually wakes up in the wee-wee hours of the morning!
Having children is like having a bowling alley installed in your brain.
If you have trouble getting your children's attention, just sit down and look comfortable.
Summer vacation is a time when parents realize that teachers are grossly underpaid.
The first sign that your children are growing up is when they learn that the volume knob also turns to the left.
And remember...
Insanity is inherited - you get it from your kids!!!

Thanks for the ping, Amy.
Looking at these old pictures of Jim, I have to remark on how skinny we all start out. By age 40, career, house, marriage, kids, we look in the mirror and say to ourselves, "What the hell happened?". $;-)

Thanks COB, I'm listening to it now. Great tunes and good quality. Funny picture too, do they really do that in Texas or am I being niave?
To: ru4liberty
LOL! That cracked me up! Where did you find that? My house isn't really filthy, it's just not as clean as it used to be...I forgot to mention the weight gain side effect from sitting at this terminal too long.

I almost didn't make it tonight, this dratted computer would not let me logon. I had to try it 5 times!
Then I had to play catchup! (Were's Meek's catchup bottle!?). I see Louie and Billie ducked out! Billie wanted to see the fox graphic!
the one Samwolf gave my I found out I could no longer get into. So I used this picture instead.
Hi, Jim! I hope I was in time to post to you.
I wanted to say that You have a beautiful family and Thank You for your service to this country and for FRee Republic!
I hope you all had a great day!

What great pictures. What fun to follow the life of FR founder and his lovely wife and family. Thanks again, all you wonderful ladies (and gentlemen posters...ahem lodwick to name one) for this great site.
We leave tomorrow at 5:00 a.m. for Mr. D's cousins funeral...wife and kids are holding their own...but I'm sure the next few months will be tough. Please keep them in your prayers.
We leave Friday for a week long vacation in northern Michigan, will be computer impaired the majority of the time and I'm already experiencing withdrawal.... The earlier freepaholic lawsuit to JimR link posted earlier was so right on....!
This is coming up for me
....Visiting Mom & Dad for the last leg after being without FR for 5 days.
Me: Hi Mom, hi dad. Have to pee be right back. (me rushing down to the study to turn the computer on, but flush the toilet just for effect")
Mom: Look at the new carpeting we put in for the cottage your buying from us...do you like it???
Me: "Love it...gosh, have to pee again...don't know what my problem is..."
Several more breaks where the dog has to pee, Mr. D. has to pee and might need help (??? pretty lame even in my book) then me again.
two hours later....
Mom to Dad "Sigh, her last recovery program hasn't worked...our little girl is still an active freeperholic...."
Mom. "Let's just hope she doesn't download songs anymore from that pervert, DougfromUpland..."
To: ClaraSuzanne
That is a really neat fox, Pip. Thanks for posting it.
Louie got worn out from answering all his pings and left for a bit; Billie will be back in a bit and Mama_Bear too. I think Amy has more photos to post...Hope so. Jim does have a lovely family doesn't he?
