Hannity Blasts FreeRepublic (maybe he is right)
Radio
| Sean Hannity
Posted on 08/02/2002 2:40:49 PM PDT by jbstrick
Hannity just stated on his radio show that he has just about had enough of the conservative cannibals on this board. To many threads end up being ledd about news and information and more about attacking fellow conservatives.
He said if he wants to get attacked he will go to a Liberal board.
I have a tendency to agree...

For instance we need to form a REAL right wing conspiracy and start getting complete control of the press by any means neccasary. We need to start having dogs and dead people vote for REAL conservatives. If the people want liberals screw the will of the people socialism is bad period.
I hope you're kidding. Any party that relies on disinformation, scare tactics and voter fraud has proven that it is inherently unworthy of governing.

If you want someone to blame concerning who started this all, you can blame me. Commie. ;-)

There is no other way to win that doesn't involve civil war. If we are not willing to take these steps then the socialist have already won.

Yes, FR really needs to model itself after the enlightened and sophisticated style we see nightly on the Hannity and Colmes show. < /sarcasm >

So the question becomes how long can he ride it out? Things are a lot easier for a president in the second term, they don't have to get reelected and it's OK to blow their wad on something. So can he manage to keep the 9-11 bubble a - long enough to maybe keep the GOP from getting whipped like dogs in midterms the way history says it will (which would make things a lot easier, takes a lot less political capital to get stuff done when you have majorities), and b - long enough to get re-elected (hopefully with a popular majority, even 50.001% will do the trick)?

I totally agree with you. That's why I admire people like David Horowitz, because he does EXACTLY that. I understands you have to fight dirty because he's a reformed leftist himself. Many conservatives have lamented that there aren't enough conservatives in mainstream media. That's why young conservatives must become writers, columnists, journalists, commentators, etc. to fight back the leftist media's assault. That's why organizations like the National Journalism Center (I don't remember their website's address) and the
Leadership Institute train young conservatives like myself (I've gone to two of the Leadership Institute's training weekends, or "schools") to be better speakers and writers. We must encourage more of them to go into these careers. The Fox News Channel and websites like FR are only a start. I hope to become a writer/columnist someday.

FR can be brutal. No doubt. Because FR is nothing but a forum for individual opinions. It's not like his radio show. It's not like O'Reilly. It's not like National Review. It's not even like the John Birch Society. It's a free-for-all, with little over membership or the content of the posts.
Sounds to me like Sean's either especially thin-skinned, or (more likely) he really doesn't understand what an Internet forum is.

HOOO-YYAAHHH !!!!
Pyro7480 starts a thread that I jumped into early and had some fun in. To hear Lanny Davis babbling as Anne Coulter very calmly showed him the true face of evil, was "priceless".
Obviously, the thread stayed open and the kidz got into the thread, and hence, this mini-brouhaha has resulted.
A couple of days ago , I launched a post about the Simon Jury saying Guilty on a fraud suit filed some time ago. It appeared that Hugh Hewitt had seen the thread and then commented to Bill Simon, who was in react mode himself and had called Hugh's show, about having seen the post on Free Republic and what was his reaction. Hugh sounded kind of chagrined or surprised to see it.
I don't know, maybe it is just me but it begs the question. Do we hide from issues or do we confront them head on? I prefer the latter. Im a Simon enthusiast, So SUE me!!!
JimRob, maybe you can share some insight on what you have had to make to either massage relationships or just take heat for. Being the proprietor is not an easy profession. It is something you have chosen to do in a very turbulent time.
Let us know if there is anything we can do to either calm the waters... or ??

I've, too, a tendency to agree. Only argument I present is that there are many despicible ratz aboard now, in the quise of conservatives. They seek to play the devil's advocate and by leading the sheep can cause division, argument, bitterness, and basically prevent FR from having any unity, thus no power.
How do you recognize 'em? Its easy. Who is caustic and beligerent? Who returns, over and over, to badger and insult, with no intent on honest dialog. What do you do about it? Nothing. Just don't be a sheep. Think for yourself and think before you post. Remember that there are hundreds in this joint who'd truly enjoy having you embarrass FR. Remember that there are thousands reading your words, try and make them mean something.

KC Burke:
I can remember way back when some thought you were somewhat controversial, confrontational and overly blunt. You are, sometimes, now almost Grandfatherly.Overly blunt is one way of putting it, but 'spur is among the most honest and rational of FR posters. I don't see him getting grandfatherly, just more curmudgeonly. :)

I don't think he was just complaining about people bashing him, but bashing all sorts of other conservatives in general.

Hey, I haven't been happy with Hannity in recent motnhs, but it seems like a case of PKB to me because he was slamming Bush left and right.
But many of us have been saying for a while now that we need a united front to defeat the left. And for that reason, I think some here have been disappointed with Hannity. But he is right. The in-fighting among conservatives will only hurt us in the end- and advance liberalism.

I think you're being overly bleak. Conservatives would do better if we had more charismatic and convincing leaders to spread the message. Also, would it be worth risking the reputation of party that has already been tarred with the brush of "dirty tricks" (see Watergate) for the sake of electing a few more RINOs who won't do a damned thing to roll back the socialism being pushed by the majority of both parties? No thanks, I'd rather concentrate on getting out the grassroots and electing more conservatives. It's more effective and legal to boot.

I guess you're correct. Sean gets alot of calls from admiring women.

Mercy, your opining at 42 drags out of me the same old question I always formulate after reading your posts.
Why on earth do you post here?
Is the mutual aggravation factor? You aggravate conservatives; they aggravate you, Catch 22?
Self-flagellation does not make anyone superior to those not being flagellated.
