Watch and pray. The rescuers are optimistic that they will reach the cavity where the miners are located by midnight, perhaps as soon as 10pm et.

They just reported that several PA miners were caught in a similar situation thirty years ago AND WERE RESCUED ALIVE AFTER A WEEK IN THE HOLE.

...China routinely loses tens of THOUSANDS of miners per year...

And that is why they block foreign media and mask there own failures. What if some mining widows in China saw this live?

I saw on some news channel yesterday that China routinely loses tens of THOUSANDS of miners per year even today, for the obvious reasons: the state is more important than you are.

Tonight I'm very proud of the efforts of ordinary Americans in making something extra-ordinary happen. Tonight we're seeing the core of what makes America great....

I returned from a 'Foghat' concert in Asheville, NC tonight to the joyous news that all nine miners had survived. Being dead tired, I was going to hit the hay after the first miner had been brought to the surface, but I can't tear myself away from the television. I've been on earth fifty years, but this is one of the most riveting dramas I've ever witnessed. Miner seven just came up...two to go...I've got to see it all! Praise G-d, and the tireless rescue efforts of all inolved. Unbelievable.

When did I ever call you any names? Recheck my posts, maybe you're thinking of someone else.

Of course its just my opinion, but I think I have been objective regarding Geraldo. Its about character. But I also stated that he's been doing a lot better as the evening has progressed.

Nonetheless, I'd fire him Monday morning.

That guy looks like he's looking for his family!

Probably best it's at night...lots of light, but still not as bright as daylight.

They just brought a truck load of crisp creme donuts, the guy the reporter is talking to was the one who was saying they needed a new fire hall. Tom ?
Dennis Hall who got on the phone and warned other miners to get out

The third miner emerges from the Quecreek mine as rescue workers on Sunday, July 28, 2002, began pulling nine miners one-by-one from the watery, 240-foot-deep shaft where they had been trapped for three days, a jubilant reward for an effort that had been fraught with one gut-wrenching setback after another.(AP Photo/Guy Wathen, POOL)

Governor said that one miner looked around at all the people there for the rescue and said "God bless America" and that it was heartfelt.

(Just amplifying your comment. God does indeed bless us.)

The first of the freed miners, Randy Fogel, 43, is carried on a stretcher at the Quecreek Mine in Somerset, Pennsylvania, July 28, 2002. The first of nine Pennsylvania coal miners trapped for three days in a flooded shaft 240 feet (73 metres) underground was hauled to the surface in a rescue capsule, officials said on Sunday. Not to be too cynical, but...

Anyone know whether this is the FIRST truckload of donuts being delivered? There's a slight whiff of opportunism in the air. Unless the donuts are being delivered by someone other than the donut company, of course.

My mention of not calling me a Geraldo cheerleader was intended to prevent any perception that I am one. I only wanted to point out that I thought your obious dislike for Geraldo brought you to a conclusion that I did not think was justified.
