Watch and pray. The rescuers are optimistic that they will reach the cavity where the miners are located by midnight, perhaps as soon as 10pm et.
They just reported that several PA miners were caught in a similar situation thirty years ago AND WERE RESCUED ALIVE AFTER A WEEK IN THE HOLE.

Really? What more could the owner had done? I mean they were drilling two holes; getting machinery from WV even; pumping out water; pumping down 100 degree compressed air...

Yes, that was some beautiful telivision, watching the interview of those Salvation Army volunteers. They may not be movie stars, but those are BEAUTIFUL persons. Real everyday heroes and heroines, working in anonymity because its right, not for glory. Flyover Country folk are wonderful.

Apparently Geraldo pointed that out to her as well, per my husband "gently." I wasn't watching when this interview took place - just going by what he told me he saw. I agree - the owner looked like he was a wonderful person, in tears during the interview, talking about the chaplains and the ministers who were helping out, even mentioning the "G" word (God).

Radio news on the hour now says all nine are in surprisingly good condition. It's only been an hour since breakthrough. Amazing. I'm thrilled. This is such wonderful news.

I wonder if the Russian people will compare the effort put in to this rescue with that of the unattempted rescue of the Kursk sailors.
Does anybody think this will make the news in China?
They lost over 5500 miners in accidents last year.

The only time I watch CNN is usually on breaking news as they are normally ahead of the others. Having Geraldo there makes me not watch Fox!
