I'd guess that, while they probably won't change party affiliations, a not insubstantial percentage will vote Republican in 2004. This year's Congressional races will see no change.

As long as the Tom DeLays of the Republican Party accompany their support for Israel with the advice that "Christianity offers the only viable, reasonable, definitive answer" to life's questions, American Jews will find a viable, reasonable and definitive rationale to vote for pro-Israel Democratic alternatives. I would hope they would vote for pro American legislators.
But then again there is a difference between being an American and just being a US citizen. - Tom

I personally know more than a half dozen Jews who voted for Gore who will vote Republican in November and for GW in '04. All it takes is a shift of 5-10% of Jews in Florida to put that state in Bush's column next time.

Let's not forget that this article was written by a Democrat operative. I believe he is whistling past the graveyard. Let me give one example. In New York State, there are 6 Republican county chairmen who are Jewish. 20 years ago, I don't think there were any. The trend is going in our direction.

The
Liberal Forward wishes Jews were not voting GOP.
Heh heh heh. They are gonna get a big surprise in 2004.

Suits me..
Just remember Jewish Democrats, Conservatives are the only ones who stand with you on principle and many of us identify with you because of your religious beliefs..
While you are just another minority vote to the Democrats. The minute the Muslims become more valuable a demographic to them, then you can kiss their support goodbye. They are fair weather friends at best.

So if I said that "I will not vote democrat because of Jews in the party, and there narrow ideas of things.... would that not be considered anti-semetic?
What happened to real issues?

These dems are dreamin'. They have suddenly found out the Jews are deserting them in droves and so they find it necessary to try to tell the world the opposite of the truth. The Jews have suddenly found out that the dems do not support them, but they support Arafat. Also, the Jews have found out that the Christians supporting them are not trying to convert them.
This story is a bunch of hog wash!

As long as the Tom DeLays of the Republican Party Oh yes, the big bad wolf of the GOP until Ashcroft came along to demonize. Guess they are dragging up all of the supposed boogie men since the election is so close.

Most American Jews will vote their liberalism before their Judaism. The reason many American Jews vote Democratic is because liberalism is their religion and they can't imagine life without it.
To: RCW2001
Reality is, as bigtime Jewish talk-radio host Dennis Prager put it at my synagogue in 1993,
"the real religion of most American Jews is liberalism, not Judaism." Now it should be easier for non-Jews to understand. A high percentage of the U.S. Jewish community only sees its Jewishness in the sense of its leftism. This is particularly true among younger Reform Jews - so much so that an Orthodox rabbi said in a Jewish magazine recently that many people gravitate to Reform temples only because they are the "address" (his word) for their politics, not for the religious tenets that Reform Judaism supposedly is.

Not a lot of Jews in my district, but from what I read and the few Jews I talk to, they mosty see the Republican Party as the party of redneck Bubbas.... know-nothings who are anti-Semitic and anti-progress. Or filthy-rich corrupt plutocrats who are anti-Semitic. But if Republicans and Dems flip-flopped on abortion, that would change things dramatically as most Jews are fervently pro-abortion.

It's been less than a year since 9/11. These things don't happen quickly. Remember, blacks began political involvement as Republicans -- it took about 80 years for that to change appreciably.

THIS IS THE ROOT PROBLEM: I knew the above because I have a lot of Jewish friends who've told me that they do not like the Christian component of the Grand Old Party. They do not want to be associated with, or appear to be endorsing Christianity.
I tell them that the alternative is far worse! By voting democrat, they are endorsing Big Government, Big Brother, Environmental Extremism, Murder through abortion, and a host of other stalinist, marxist beliefs.
You would think that they would have a natural fear of anything that promotes big government, but Christianity is viewed as a greater threat.
One thing is certain: Christians are the largest component of the Republican party. They own it lock, stock, and barrel. You would never know this, however, considering how we've been treated recently.

Oh, I meant to say too that this could be a little wagon circling propaganda, as well. Considering the title "Jew Still Not Voting GOP", this could be a way of reminding Jews that "WE ARE NOT VOTING GOP" come November.
