Official tailor to the White House Georges de Paris, who has made suits for U.S. presidents going back to Lyndon Johnson, said Sunday that the nicest presidents he served over the years were Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.
His least favorite - Bill Clinton.
Of all the presidents he has spent hours measuring and fitting under the watchful eyes of Secret Service agents, the French clothier told the news service Agence France Presse that Reagan and Bush were the "friendliest and also the most elegant."
"Reagan spoke a lot. He, like George W., knew how to appreciate the quality of fabrics," de Paris explained. "He gave me jellybeans and was always afraid that I would prick him with my needles during the fitting."
But President Clinton, whom the media painted for eight years as a man of the people, didn't quite live up to his advance billing, de Paris said.
"The least pleasant of all was Bill Clinton," he complained.
"Clinton was very demanding, cold and always occupied," he told AFP. "He was unaware of me completely."
De Paris' ratings for other presidents?
Lyndon Johnson was "nice. He introduced me to his wife and his daughters."
The French tailor rated Richard Nixon as "cordial," adding, "He always asked for news of my family and whether I liked the United States."
Jimmy Carter "never said anything."
De Paris told AFP that Gerald Ford "teased me about my small size by asking me whether I played on an American football team."
Despite his positive rating for Bush 43, de Paris said Bush 41 "was not the most agreeable."
"But the least pleasant of all was Bill Clinton," he quickly added.

Ugh! Can you imagine having to be in such close proximity to that sack of dung? I would shower as soon as I left his presence.

"Reagan spoke a lot. He, like George W., knew how to appreciate the quality of fabrics," de Paris explained. The only interest Clinton likely had in clothes was in how fast he could get the pants off.

This is great! The real Bill Clinton, not the public face, but the private one. I have read several books that suggest that he is a tyrant behind the scenes, unfriendly, rude, and prone to fits of temper!
Hope there are fantastic tell all books sooner or later! I am sure the publishers are rejecting any that aren't favorable so far. Or perhaps former employees are afraid for their lives! But someone else will talk sooner or later, and I will read the stories with great glee!

Plus, I imagine he is a total rube when it comes to picking out clothes. A polyester leisure suit is too good for him. Inmate orange is the only thing appropriate.

I imagine there are a lot of WH employees keeping their mouths shut, for fear of The Beast's return. I bet they could tell us some raunchy tales about the Arkansas trash that desecrated the WH for eight years.

When the tailor asks him if he dresses left or dresses right, how would Clinton answer? With a bent one, would it be both?

I didn't know that the White House had its own tailor. Who pays for the suits? Please don't tell me that the taxpayer does. Also, wonder who pays for presidential hair cuts.

I don't think Mr. de Paris appreciated the suggestion of a velcro zipper.

Have you ever noticed that any time the media talks about the popularity of Laura Bush, or Nancy Reagan for that matter, they always have to mention that witch, Hillary?
To: Paul Atreides
It's nice to reaffirm that Reagan was class even out of the public eye.

Jimmy Carter "never said anything." That's hard to imagine. I thought he could never shut up.

Well, there comes a time in many peoples lives when they have to call low-class trash, low-class trash.

I learned the other day via I won't say where, that Carter was very bitter about Scoop Jackson, the senator from Washington. He said that Scoop tried to screw him anyway he could, whether it was about the mideast, energy exploration, or otherwise. I raise my glass to Scoop. May he rest in peace.
PS: Scoop was another one of George Will's favorite senators, along with Daniel Patrick Moynihan. George's taste in senators in close to unerring. I raise my glass to him too.

I think Mr. Habitat For Humanity is just as concerned about his legacy as Bubba is about his own.
