Gore Accuses Bush Admin. of Lying

The Associated Press

MORRISON, Tenn. July 20 — Former presidential candidate Al Gore accused the Bush administration Saturday of lying to Americans about the nation's economy.

At a campaign event for a congressional candidate, Gore told Democrats that electing Lincoln Davis could be the difference in continuing the Bush administration's economic policies.

The Bush administration has "lied about the future liabilities they have put on our shoulders as taxpayers," Gore said.

The former vice president prompted a cheer when he said: "I don't care what anybody says. I think Bill Clinton and I did a damn good job."

The recent spate of corporate corruption cases reflects the administration's policies and its appointees, who are supposed to police big business, Gore said.

He compared the administration's handling of the economy to business decisions that led to the collapse of Enron, saying Bush is creating a huge deficit.

"It's going to lead to bigger deficits than when the first Bush was there," Gore said.

He said the administration should "completely scrap its economic plan and its team on Monday ... start over from scratch and start rebuilding this economy."

Gore, who says he is undecided about another presidential race in 2004, endorsed Davis in the Aug. 1 Democratic primary for the 4th Congressional District.

Former aerospace company owner Fran Marcum is also seeking the Democratic nomination. Former Safety Commissioner Mike Greene and Tullahoma alderman Janice Bowling are seeking the Republican nomination.

Incumbent Rep. Van Hilleary, a Republican, is instead running for governor.

The rural district stretches from Alabama to Kentucky and includes counties that elected Gore to the U.S. House in 1976.

Somehow I get the impression that you did not vote for Mr. Gore for president. Perhaps I am reaching here for a conclusion.

I am so sick of Bush and the pubbies never fighting back. This nice guy crap is going to get them creamed in the Nov. elections. A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth. The Dems. know this. The stupid party will never learn.

I assume you are being sarcastic, I hope. Other wise, it is shocking that anyone would believe that corruption erupted the day Clinton left office! You and the Gore Won crowd are severely delusional. If ,of course, you are being sarcastic, then you are right on.

Gore is preaching to the choir. They weren't going to cast a vote for the GOP anyway. Those that are glad he's not really the Pres will vote as they want. Democraps tend to vote for Democraps. The sly smart ones will cross party lines, quietly.

Gore, who says he is undecided about another presidential race in 2004

And he was saying President Bush was lying?? Then he goes on to insult any intelligent persons thinking by claiming he and Clinton did a good job??

I'm at a loss for words to reply to Gores ignorance. All I can say is thank GOD that President Bush won. From Gores sore loser attitude, and his putting himself above the needs of the nation,.. to this insanity.. I'm just reaffirmed in my belief that a higher power intervened for us and put President Bush at the helm.

Well, that is most interesting, indeed. He is saying he knew in 1998 that companys were cooking their books yet he was unable to breech the republican blockade in order to alert "the little people"? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The mind reels. Why, one would think he hadn't had access to the "bully pulpit" we hear so much of.

It is, of course, too much to expect the media to analyze this curious pronouncement (admission).

(oops, right before I hit "post" I realized the date. He would blame Kenneth Starr personally, of course, for diverting him from "doing the work for the American People)

When you look at him now and hear what he is saying, Bubba is one sick puppy. He is what he always is, a hack politician from the south who is always on the hustle.

Gore told it like it was. He beat Bush in 2000, and you don't want to admit that Bush-Cheney has failed miserably since stealing the election. Even your own poll only gives Bush a 64 percent job approval rating of at least good. Let's see...a recession, a war, the budget is back running deficits, numerous corporate scandals, governmental abuse of power like Cheney's secret meetings with Enron officials and doing Enron's bidding on government time like trying to get India to pay a loan back to Enron, Bush's broken campaign promises like restoring morality and regulating CO2, Bush's lies on his dealings with Harken, etc. Some record.

ha, ha... Where do I start...

First of all, Bush beat Gore. The dumber-than-a-stump Al Gore even admits that.

Bush has had quite a time cleaning up the mess left by Bill and Al. Osama bin laden was allowed to build up a large following after he was fingered for the 1993 bombing of the WTC. Other than lobbing some bombs into the desert to distract Americans from Monica's testimony, what did Bill do?

And who was running the regulatory agencies when WorldCom, Enron, Global Crossing and Aurthur Anderson started cooking the books in the late 90s?

And 'Cheney's secret meetings'? What about Hillary's secret meetings with 'health care experts' [also known as lobbyists].

As usual, you liberals have selective memory. Face it. Bill and Al were the most corrupt team ever to occupy the White House.

He said the administration should "completely scrap its economic plan and its team on Monday ... start over from scratch and start rebuilding this economy."

I think I'm gonna puke, 'cause I finally agree with ALGORE on something.

Bush's economic plan and team are useless. SecTreas is a fool. Protectionism under Bush exceeds Clinton. The Administration acquiesces to virtually any Democratic spending plan. After one good but small, slow, and temporary tax cut, the administration has not made the case for any more tax cuts. Prescription coverage in Medicare is like cutting a new hole in the Titanic. They created an expensive new bureacracy (Homeland Defense) to solve the problem of too many bureacracies (FBI, CIA, DIA, etc.) unable to work together.

If it weren't for Bush being a good War on Terror President, I would be completely disillusioned.
