MORRISON, Tenn. July 20 Former presidential candidate Al Gore accused the Bush administration Saturday of lying to Americans about the nation's economy.
At a campaign event for a congressional candidate, Gore told Democrats that electing Lincoln Davis could be the difference in continuing the Bush administration's economic policies.
The Bush administration has "lied about the future liabilities they have put on our shoulders as taxpayers," Gore said.
The former vice president prompted a cheer when he said: "I don't care what anybody says. I think Bill Clinton and I did a damn good job."
The recent spate of corporate corruption cases reflects the administration's policies and its appointees, who are supposed to police big business, Gore said.
He compared the administration's handling of the economy to business decisions that led to the collapse of Enron, saying Bush is creating a huge deficit.
"It's going to lead to bigger deficits than when the first Bush was there," Gore said.
He said the administration should "completely scrap its economic plan and its team on Monday ... start over from scratch and start rebuilding this economy."
Gore, who says he is undecided about another presidential race in 2004, endorsed Davis in the Aug. 1 Democratic primary for the 4th Congressional District.
Former aerospace company owner Fran Marcum is also seeking the Democratic nomination. Former Safety Commissioner Mike Greene and Tullahoma alderman Janice Bowling are seeking the Republican nomination.
Incumbent Rep. Van Hilleary, a Republican, is instead running for governor.
The rural district stretches from Alabama to Kentucky and includes counties that elected Gore to the U.S. House in 1976.

Translation: "AlGore thinks AlGore played a good vice-president on TV. AlGore needs work, so AlGore will try to run for president."
Of trying to sell the nation out to the Chicoms, of election fraud, of perjury, of abusing our authority, but mostly we did an excellent job of trashing the nation's military and intelligence commmunity so that 9/11 was possible in the first place.
Yep - sure did.
Record trade deficits, exporting of good jobs thanks to free trade. no effective war on terrorism (i.e., embassy bombings, U.S.S. Cole), allowing corporate CEOs to suck out profits of corporations for their own benefits, etc..
Our nation tires of bad performances quickly.
"Bill and I Did a Damn Good Job! Bush is a liar. I won fair and square. buuuuurp."
I can hear it now...12:00 Jan 20, 2001...big businesses pop champaign corks and shoot party poppers... "Wow. Now we can FINALLY start accounting how we want to..."
If ANYTHING the recent spate of scandals is because the Bush team is doing their job. A little too well maybe...
Lest Americans ever forget why the clintons, and all their enablers need to be hectored, hounded, and harried into silence, until "clintonese is only spoken in Hell," look here:

I'd map Al's Political Death as disbelief freefalling to despair. It's not the fall that'll kill you, Al, it's the landing.
Nevermind the fact all of the corruption occurred during the Clinton-Gore Administration.
Glad the AP pointed out the dates of when the cooking of the books started, so that its readers would not be misled as to the facts. < / sarcasm >
Normally I would ask where is the barf alert? However this time I say you should have posted it under comical
