After 6 Years of Service to You, It's Been a Pleasure

Well, It's Been a True Pleasure. After 6 years of Active Duty in the USN, I have called it quits. Signed the infamous DD 214, Checked out on Terminal Leave (Use of all leave saved up) and awaiting my Honorable Discharge Certificate. I Have Found It an Absolute Pleasure to Serve the people of the United States of America.
I have Taken a Job that takes Me To a part of this great nation that I have never been where I know absolutly no one, and I am Looking forward to it Greatly. However, I shall never wear the uniform of this nation and that does pain me, but I shall be a warrior of a diffrent cloth, for this day I return to Citizenship in the truest meaning, and will carry the Flag in a diffrent way, but will continue to Serve this Great Nation..
Sorry for the Vanity...Just wanted to Say thank you for letting me Wear the Uniform For so long :)

Just wanted to Say thank you for letting me Wear the Uniform For so long :) What a fine post from a very fine person! You sacrificed for 6 years and then thank the nation and the citizens whom you served. It is us who should be thanking you, but I know the rewards will flow your way if indeed they haven't already. "He who seeks to save his life shall lose it, while he who loses his life for my sake shall find it."

Thanks. I guess I'm too old now. God help me, I'd do it again.

Make notarized copies of that DD-214 and keep the original in a safety-deposit box.
Getting it replaced is a HUGE pain, and when you lose it, you'll need it for sure.

Best wishes to you in your new endeavor, and thank you for serving our country for 6 years. SALUTE!
If you miss the camaraderie of military service, pop in and visit the USO Canteen FReeper Style. Consider this your engraved invitation (though you certainly don't need one)!
