I found this from the link below it.
Pollster John Zogby: The economy may be the sleeper issue. It is rated at the top as the most important issue. Not everyone is doing well. A lot of people, especially 401K-holders are scared. This could be the key issue to watch.

What does everyone think? Could it be a sleeper issue?

Like I have told the rats today the republicans are high in the polls that matter right now.
Results show Republicans are believed best equipped to handle Homeland Security, Foreign Relations, Taxes and Crime/Drugs/Violence.
the economy is a rumble under the surface. Face the fact now not later. Look at the stock market it is down the tubes.

Absolutely. Hard to worry about the war and other issues if you can't feed your family or if your retirement is shot.

In this instance, the "help" you needed was in providing a direct link to the Zogby source.
You should be thanking me, not lecturing me.

Sorry wasn't trying to lecture. I am just in overdrive tonight. Thanks for the link hole_n_one.

I agree. Zogby is nowhere on this issue.
If al Qaida hits a major U.S. city in the next few weeks, the stock market will tank. Who will voters blame? Bush or Islamic terrorists .....?
I think Americans will want blood to flow in the streets in Iran, Iraq, Syria and on and on.

The question should be; Who's better at running up the national debt, creating new tax sucking bureaucracies, and pandering with government give away programs ?(no low income whites please)
A)...A Republican(?) President and his administration.

Well, first of all, just about anything
could be a "sleeper issue" come fall. So this sounds like a Democrat setup from the get-go.
But yes, I could see this happening, if the economy goes down between now and November, AND there are no more major events in any way related to the war: No invasion of Iraq (or any other country), no terrorist attacks on the US homeland, etc. If anything terror-related or war-related occurs, especially if it occurs closer to November rather than earlier, the economy will fall way down the list of issues. People worry about their retirement plans, but not when they're too busy worrying whether they'll ever live long enough to retire.

And of course it goes without saying that in general, the public considers the GOP to be more competent on the economy than the RATS.

Yes, but only because the RATS will make sure it is. That is how they beat the first Bush, and they are desperate for an issue, true or false to use against President Bush.
How can we forget the snake's,
It's the economy stupid! mantra!
To: TLBSHOW
I wonder why Zogby did not include the War on Terrorism on his chart? </sarcasm off
In my opinion Zogby is just another biased dimocrat.

I have that feeling about them too.

The axis of evil for the US is the economy, the economy, and the economy.
Bush, the elder, road the war horse to loser in the election race. Domestic policy trumps foreign intervention. End bin Laden's power, then over and out. As the winner put it 'it's the economy stupid'.

The economy is always a factor. Bush may get a pass since we are at war.
Zogby is a good pollster, but we would do well to remember his bias. HHis brother is the head of the largest Arab lobbying group in the country. The war on terror and Bush's support of Israel doesnt' sit well with them. Another thread talked about Zogby's perception of Clinton the rapist continuing pepularity.
Anyone suprised that Arab terrorist apologist would favor Clinton over Bush and seek to damage Bush?
