Looks like you want to let the cancer to continue to grow inside the united states. There will be no government left when the invader takes over. Why is it good enough for South Korea but not good enough for the USA poohbah? The mexican and other misc foreign invaders bring diseases, drugs and crime into this country, i say the military should be placed on the border along the vast open spaces, you deter terrorist and illegals from crossing with heavily armed U.S. troops and armored. vehicles.
What you're describing is a civil law enforcement mission, NOT a military mission.
And what follows after that is that the mission will get progressively less clear as time goes on. There will be a few "unfortunate incidents" early on, where a US citizen gets shot because of unclear ROEs. The ROEs will be "clarified," which will in turn make the original mission less clear. (You have to have been in the Big Green Machine to understand how this works.)
Eventually, you will have soldiers being offered bribes--and more than a few taking them. At that point, you might as well write off the USA, because once the military goes bad, it's a hop, skip, and a jump to the final collapse.

According to a recent study conducted by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), more than 700,000 illegal immigrants enter the U.S. per year – resulting in 1,918 per day, 80 per hour and more than 1 per minute. In other words, since the September 11th attack, approximately 481,418 people have entered the U.S. illegally.
With the events of September 11th, in the second session of the 107th Congress, the caucus will no doubt continue to establish the link between open borders, unregulated immigration and the potential for terrorism. In addition, the caucus will push legislative proposals which will help secure America’s borders, including the creation of a comprehensive visa tracking system such as H.R. 3525, and meaningful reform of the INS. Though many members of the caucus continue to support a true guestworker program, most will continue to vehemently oppose any program in the 107th Congress that results in amnesty for illegal immigrants.
The Immigration Reform Caucus was established to review current immigration policy, propose new immigration policies and provide a forum in Congress for addressing the positive and negative consequences of our immigration policies.
During the 107th Congress, the Caucus hopes to focus on three primary areas, illegal immigration, legal immigration and voter reform.
According to my friend who lives 8 or 9 miles from the border in SouthEastern Arizona, they are seeing more border crossers from Poland and Eastern Europe. The current story they are getting from the crossers is that for 7 to 10 grand, potential immigrants from Poland, Moscow, or Rumania can fly to Mexico City, be bussed to the American border and promised crossing. If unsuccessful and turned back, Mexican police will provide a different crossing. And the price includes a bus ticket to Chicago or Detroit.

We can survive some corrupt cops. We cannot survive having a military where some members are taking bribes. That's an inevitable consequence of putting military assets into law enforcement roles.

I was not aware that several mechanized armies were poised on the Rio Grande, ready to storm across the border at any minute. However, my solution to Korea, free of outside considerations (like the PRC) would be to invade the North and remove Kim Jong-Il's regime from power.
Armies work very well at stopping armies or invading other countries to remove their governments. They work very badly at this mission.

We don't have enough troops for the job--and we aren't, as a nation, willing to pay the price (both monetary and philosophical--as I indicated, I do not like the idea of using military forces for law enforcement).
If you think a military response is needed, then use that force correctly.
Speaking of Ziglar, I was reading an interesting article about him in a Mexican propaganda rag today (Spanish language La Opinion). Here's a rough translation of the swill he's peddling to the likes of the AILA. Funny that the mainstream press avoids these stories. Take note as to what Gustavo Mohar has to say.

And just to be complete, the usual note on the bottom of the contribution card reads: "Individuals can contribute a maximum of $5,000 to a political action committee each year. Checks should be made payable to USIRP".

Who's your definition of a "real leader?"
Given how much angst is present over the War Against the Terrorists, AFTER the terrorists killed 3,000 Americans...just how do you think we'd get massive support for hitting Mexico with the "full brunt of our military" over a few episodes that didn't even result in one fatality?
This is one situation where cutting out the readily identifiable illegal "demand" will solve 90% of the "supply" problem.Simply act on already set up guidelines. Enforcing existing laws against hiring illegal workers would go a loooong way in lowereing the flood of illegal invaders, and make it possible for the border patroll to actually patroll the borders.
While I wish action had been taken years ago,I would rather see what the new combined homeland agency mission shakes out to look like before I start screaming for additional roles for the DOD.They seem to be a little bit busy right now.
What pray tell is more central to the fundamental duties of the military than protecting our borders from an invasion?
We also need to get states to set residency requirements on welfare bennies.
NOTE: this would NOT be based on whether one is an illegal immigrant or not; it would simply be a requirement that to draw public assistance, you would have to have lived in the state for at least 3-5 years (demonstrable with tax returns, et cetera).
