Posted on 06/10/2002 11:44:50 AM PDT by B-Chan

Attention, North Texas Catholic Freepers and others: Catholics United for the Faith, St. Stephen the Martyr Chapter, will be sponsoring a panel discussion on the topic "The State of Catholicism in the United States and the Bishops' Conference in Dallas" on Friday, 14 June 2002 at 7:00 p.m. The panel, which will be held in the auditorium of St. Therese Academy in Irving, Texas, features the following distinguished speakers:

Russell Shaw, author and frequent contributor to Crisis Magazine

Philip Lawler, editor of Catholic World Report

Helen Hull Hitchcock, Editor, Adoremus

Leon Suprenant, National President, Catholics United for the Faith

Michael Rose, noted author of Goodbye, Good Men

Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz, Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska

A lineup like this obviously is not to be missed! Coming as it does on the eve of the USCCB conference at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, this panel discussion is sure to be informative, enlightening, and inspiring.

The pro-sodomy, pro-modernist lobby will be well represented on the streets outside the Fairmont. Will orthodox, traditional Catholics? Any Freepers interested in getting together at this event, or who have plans to attend or demonstrate outside the USCCB conference, please contact me by FreepMail or here on this thread.

Yours in Christian Fraternity,

B-chan

I don't have money. ~~~ Help with the fundraiser. Bump the threads, ping your FRiends.
There's plenty of time to donate. ~~~ Bill collectors don't see it that way.

Let's hope someone will videotape this panel. Many Catholics would like to hear what they have to say.

Thanks!
"From June 13-15, 2002, the Bishops of the United States of America will be gathering in Dallas, Texas for three days or prayer and deliberation in order to assure the safety of children, address the problem of clergy sexual abuse, and formulate concrete initiatives for the future.

During the forty-six hours the Bishops will be meeting in Dallas, you are invited to pray for victims of clergy sexual abuse, and for the Bishops, that God might send his Holy Spirit to grant them the wisdom and courage to do his holy will at this critical moment in the life of the Church.

Parish communities, individuals and groups of the faithful may gather together to pray in the course of these days in many different ways.

During the Bishops' meeting, Bishops, victims of sexual abuse, and others will spend forty eight hours in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, asking the Lord Jesus to bring healing and peace to victims and to be present to our Bishops. Parishes, religious communities, and other groups might well conduct continuous adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during this same time, beginning with a Mass designed to coincide with the Opening Mass for the Bishops' Meeting at 7:00am on Thursday, June 13th and concluding forty eight hours later with a Mass on Saturday morning at 7:00am. The booklet of scriptures, prayers and meditations which will be used during this Eucharistic

During the Bishops' meeting, parishes, religious communities, and other groups of the faithful might gather for celebrations of the Liturgy of the Hours at the same hours observed by the Bishops. The texts for the Masses on Thursday morning, Friday evening, and Saturday morning are available on this website. The texts of Morning Prayer and Mid-Afternoon Prayer for these days as they will be prayed by the Bishops is also available.

Other Prayers and Devotions are particularly appropriate during these days. Individuals might pray one of the prayers in the Vigil booklet, offer a rosary each day for the intentions of the Church, or spend time in quirt prayer before the Blessed Sacrament to the extent their schedule allows.

Many ask the question, 'What can I do to help?' The only way any of us can discern an answer to that question is by seeking the presence of Christ, 'the way, the truth, and the life.'

Many things seems impossible for us. But with God, all things are possible."

This is a singular ray of light and gives me hope; in this small group's coming together, many things might emanate from their efforts. Let's pray for them. V's wife.

Excellent line up. Wish I could be there too! I'll have to settle for Alan Keyes here in central PA this Friday at a local crisis pregnancy center fundraiser. Michael Rose will be here Tuesday the 18th too to speak about his new book...

Full bump-list request! It would be nice to have an orthodox presence in the streets in Dallas to counter the "Call to Action" and "Catholics for Free Choice" creatures that will no doubt be there. Nothing will alarm the liberals more than a strong body of devout Catholics on site...

What else has Philip Lawler done? I seem to recognize the name, but not from Catholic World Report.
