I have managed my checking account by rounding up and down since my days at college. If it was over 33 cents the amount was rounded up to the next dollar. (example a check for $14.36 was entered as $15.00 for the math)
If the check was $14.32 or lower, it was entered as $14.00.
When we were first married I did the check book. My wife was horrified. After the first son arrived she did the check book for about 12 years. For the first year she tried to keep everything right to the penney. Her best friend would come over a couple of times a month to balance the check book. I keep a separate ledger using my system. When we closed out that account 4 years later when we moved to Kali, my system was right on the nose with the close out statement. She was off a few dollars.
Then for the next few years, she used my system. When we moved to Napa, it again was basically accurate.
I took over the check book and went back to the same system. Then when Check Free came out, I used the full amount as it did the math.
Our treasurer in the Church does the same thing with his macro ledgers. Over 5 years, his macros have been right on target with the micro book keeping system. He has his own accounting/management firm and is the cfo for several smaller firms. He refuse to work with anyone who demands the micro attention at his level.
I don't watch the Today Show so I don't know the time yet. I will post the stuff when I know more.
IS THAT CORRECT????
$50.00in from Michigan.
Thank you Freepers.
I said Sure, I'll be happy to balance it for you. Two weeks later, and after wanting to pull out my hair, I told him Daddy, let's go with the bank's number, after all, it's in your favor. Whew.
That's the way that folks that made it through the Depression do business I guess.
Thank you Michigan!
Then, when the king salmon start to come into our local markets, we buy it at least 3 times per week. We love Halibut, striper if filleted correctly, all of the rock fish, Dorado or Mahi Mahi or Dolphin, scallops, oysters, mussels, calamari, abalone, trout, steelhead, bass, crappie and ? if it came from good freshwater or the ocean. Our younger son says that if it lived in the water, we will find a way to cook it and enjoy it. He is worse than we are.
We have a good steak about every ten days and ground sirloin about the same. We get the Fosters skinless chicken breasts that are pre marinated which charcoal into great food.
My son still hunts, his wife doesn't like game. So we end up with Bambi, pheasants, chukars, ducks and geese. That may be coming to a limited supply. Our grand daughter and grandson love game.
This afternoon I will pick up three smoke pheasants that a friend did for us this weekend. One will probably be a cold dinner this week or lunch on Wednesday when my wife doesn't work.
If I was doing the math that Joe has to do, there would be a lot more oops.
