President Bush and First Lady Laura headed to the United States Military Academy at West Point to give the Commencement Speech. In this bicentennial graduation, Bush told West Point graduates that they must protect and preserve American freedom at a time when terrorism puts it in jeopardy. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!
President's Remarks to West Point Cadets
Ooo--eee! I'm so excited for you. In less than two months, I'll be joining you as a new grandma. My first time--yours, too?
In the Laura book I'm reading on loan from Wphile, the author quotes Laura's mother as saying this was evident in her Laura's earliest years.
(From page 13) From the beginning, Laura was a delightful addition to the family. 'She was an easy baby,' recalled Jenna [her mother]. 'She never cried and she was hardly even sick.' The calm, contented personality that strikes everyone who meets Laura Bush was evident from babyhood, according to her mother, who added that her daughter was 'just born a happy little kiddo.'Emphasis added.
THAT'S funny in a pathetic way. In the recent Daschle charge accusing W of knowing about the 9/11 attacks and saying / doing nothing, and dem acrimony over W "using" the photos of him doing his job on 9/11 to solicit cash for the RNC, I read a hit piece by one stinky writer that Bush always mentions the terrorist attacks in his speeches, with the intention to draw the reader into believing W's words were also to draw cash to the RNC.
These dolts ... It's too true that you can't please all the people ... not even part of the time. To say that he is reminding us that we are at war against an enemy who wants us destroyed, as a means of garnering cash, is beyond the pale. Bush mentions it because we are so prone to forget, let down our guard, fail to finance the war, etc., unless tragedy hits anew or we are reminded through words. I'll take the verbal reminders any day over new attacks.
No, gracias, McLynnan! I like my taste buds and want to make sure they continue to work!!
He truly is an UGLY man in every sense of that word!!
I'm looking at your first pic on #308, and that's not a very nice thing to say about Laura!
In those instances, McLynnan, maybe we just have to ask God to love those people THROUGH us until we can get to the point where we can freely love them ourselves. There a lot of folks I don't particularly like, or approve of what they do, but I love them as I love any of God's creatures. We don't have to ACCEPT the terrorists or LIKE the terrorists, we just have to understand that God created them and loves them though THEY MAY HAVE TURNED AWAY FROM HIM! At some point, they will have turned away so far that they cannot get back and they will be forever separated from God, and that pains Him. But that's the price of a free will. By our actions, we can turn that will toward Him or away, it is our decision. Just because God loves the terrorists, and we are supposed to love them as fellow children of God, doesn't absolve them of responsibility for their actions, and it does not keep us from doing what we have to do to stop them from hurting more innocent people.
